THE BIG WATCH this evening at Pease Public Library!

THE BIG WATCH: A reminder, coming on the 17th of June.

Plymouth Historical Society and Pease Public Library will co-host The Big Watch! Together, we’ll watch a short excerpt from THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, a film directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt, and take part in a community discussion. The featured segment from THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, “The Spirit of Service,” explores service as a core American value, from the nation’s founding through to the present day – examining volunteerism, civic participation, public leadership, and more. Expert facilitator David Alcox (NH State Teacher of the Year three times, National Civics Teacher of the Year twice, and the 2000 NH James Madison Fellowship recipient) will guide a thoughtful conversation as we remember together, considering questions such as:

What moments from our past define who we are and point to a shared future?

What are the key historical moments in our town’s or community’s history?

How does focusing on these moments shape our sense of our community’s future?

Pease Public Library will be cohosting a program with PHS on June 17, 2026, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. For the Big Watch program, we will watch segments of the recent Ken Burns PBS series "The American Revolution" focused on service. Following the viewing, we will discuss the history of service in the founding of the US and in our lives in more recent times. The trained facilitator and Ken Burns program are provided through a grant from NH Humanities. THE PLYMOUTH HISTORICAL MUSEUM & MEMORY HOUSE OPENS TODAY (Saturday, May 30) FOR THE 2026 SEASON!

EXHIBIT NOW OPEN — Revolution and the Spirit of '76

If you would like to get a closer look at the items from 1976, the Plymouth Historical Society’s exhibit “Revolution and the Spirit of ‘76” will be on display at the Plymouth Historical Museum & Memory House, tucked behind Town Hall. Museum hours are Saturdays, 10 AM–1 PM, May 30 through November 28, and by chance or appointment. Featured are the time capsule items, a recounting of the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration, and profiles of Plymouth Patriots who fought in the Revolution and influenced the town's evolution.
