One of the biggest lies in youth hockey is that every kid gets treated equally.

Most families know that’s not always true.

Some players get endless patience.
Others get judged instantly.
Some mistakes get ignored.
Others get remembered forever.

Kids notice those differences more than adults realize.

And over time, favoritism changes how players see themselves.

That’s why confidence is so fragile in youth sports.

A coach’s belief can completely change a player’s future.
But so can constant doubt.

The scary part is, some of the most talented kids in hockey are carrying the least confidence.

Not because they aren’t capable.

Because the environment around them stopped making them believe they were.

That’s something hockey needs to get better at before more good players disappear from the game.
