Today, June 1, families across Ukraine mark International Children's Day—a holiday meant for parks and balloons and laughter. But for the children we serve, childhood unfolds against air raid sirens and front-line shelling. Many have lost fathers to the war. All of them have lost the ordinary safety every child deserves.

That's why our Common Man for Ukraine mental health retreats matter so much. For 18 days, children from war-torn villages get to simply be children again—to play, to heal, to rediscover what it feels like to be safe. They return home carrying something the war tried to take from them: hope.
