🔧 80 appointments, 5 hours & so many items given a second life! ♻️

Our second Fix-It Clinic on October 17 was a wonderful day of community, learning, and repair!

Our 20+ fixers and helpers repaired more than 20 lamps, a gorgeous grandfather clock, musical instruments, watches, jewelry, a sewing machine, a sentimental ceramic soap dish, and so much more!

Fix-It Clinics are about more than fixing things. They’re about sharing skills, empowering residents to repair instead of replace, keeping useful items out of landfills, and building a stronger culture of reuse in our community.

Huge thanks to our talented fixers and our partners and supporters: Plymouth Public Library, the Recycling Committee, League of Women Voters, DPW, Climate Action Net Zero Committee, Aubuchon Hardware in Manomet, Oh Pleeze Upcycling (OHpleeze), Hocking The Shop (), Plymouth Day Garden Club, Driscoll Music Studio, and Mamma Mia’s (Mamma Mia's) for feeding our volunteers!

Want to support future Fix-It Clinics?

Thank you for helping us repair more and waste less! 🌎

🌊🐚 Check out the presentation
on the state of Plymouth Beach from the Plymouth Select Board meeting back on Sept 29th at the link below & swipe here for a high level overview!

→ Regulations on beach access can feel useless and exhausting when you aren't quite sure what they're in place for. Understanding the importance of protecting endangered species and the way humans impact delicate coastal ecosystems is extremely valuable for sustainability and conservation efforts in Plymouth.

→ Plymouth has done a particularly good job at managing a safe balance between creating a protected environment for plovers and and allowing Plymouth residents to access this beautiful recreational area.

Starting to get in the holiday spirit?

Unpacking your holiday decorations and finding broken bulbs, frayed wires, or lights that are beyond repair? Don’t toss them in the trash or your curbside recycling bin! Recycle them with us! 🎄

Sustainable Plymouth will be hosting a collection drive November 15–December 15 across Plymouth. Stay tuned! Drop-off locations being announced soon.

🚨 Never put string lights in curb side recycling. They can wrap around sorting machinery, causing equipment damage and facility shutdowns. They require specialized e-waste recycling instead. 🚨

♻️ Strands of holiday lights contains recoverable materials, including copper wiring. Through specialized processing, these materials are mechanically shredded and separated so they can be recovered and reused.

Don’t be a humbug! Recycle those holiday lights! 🎃 🎄💡 🕎

♻️🦇🎃 After a month of collecting donations and 2 free costume pop-up shops, it’s safe to say the Halloween Costume Swap was a success!
The amount of costumes collected from the community was truly incredible.

Out of the hundreds of pieces donated, nearly all of them found a new home! Any leftover costumes from the costume swap will be available at the Plymouth Family Resource Center!

Wearing and donating secondhand costumes helps prevent the creation of textile waste and conserves the resources required to produce brand new costumes annually. Thank you to both our donors and shoppers for helping us make Halloween more sustainable!
