Today marks the last day of meteorological summer—but not everyone agrees that summer is over just yet!
Did you know there are two ways to define the seasons? Meteorologists consider summer to run from June 1 through August 31, while the astronomical calendar says summer doesn't end until the autumnal equinox later in September. The difference comes down to whether you're following weather patterns or the Earth's position around the sun.
