There is an active alert for San Angelo State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife. It is always a good practice to call before hauling under normal circumstances, but especially now with the New World Screwworm.
Do not bring your horse to this park at this time.

Not pretty, but we all need to be aware. The New World Screw Worm has arrived in Texas. Best to be aware and know what to look for. I recieved this from a friend who attended a clinic on this subject.

TPWD staff met this week to continue their public discussions on Post Oak Ridge State Park in Lampasas. Their first public meetings in Lampasas and Austin included equine trails and accommodations.

This week, the position for equestrians have been summarily removed stating sensitive ecological areas and steep ridges making riding unsafe. There is an online survey where you can submit your comments.

TETRA has reached out to TPWD staff managing this and future state park projects concerning our disappointment with this decision and the need for equine access.

If you want your voice heard, contact your representative and senators to let them know the need for equine trails in Texas parks.

TPWD Silver Lake State park is on the horizon, new acquisition in the early planning stages. It is located near Rocksprings and Uvalde.

The Moody Foundation ranch land donation combined with funds from the Centennial fund, sets this location up as the second largest Texas state park, behind Big Bend State park.
