Valley Humane Society

Valley Humane Society Valley Humane Society creates a brighter future for cats and dogs by encouraging and strengthening the bond between people and pets.

Our Vision:

A world in which every animal is loved and every person knows the love of an animal. Our Values:

Compassion- Kindness is at the core of our mission. At VHS we treat everyone with respect and understanding. Animals at VHS are treated individually with the sensitivity and caring they deserve. Companionship- Everyone deserves a friend. VHS creates opportunities for people to experience

the love of a pet, as well as connect with others. We believe that life lived as part of a loving family is richer, happier, and more fulfilling. Optimism- VHS is a warm, happy place, a feeling reflected by the well-being of the animals in our care. We believe visiting, volunteering, and working here should be a fun, positive experience, a vibe we carry out with us into the community. Our good spirits cultivate enthusiasm for our mission and keep us hopeful when things get challenging. Gratitude- We appreciate the many talents brought to bear by our volunteers and staff to achieve our mission. The mental, physical, and emotional gifts offered to VHS are as important as the financial contributions, both large and small, of our many donors. We recognize that these gifts, taken together, are what allow us in turn to serve the animals and people of our community. Collaboration- The task before us is greater than any one person. Our relationships with the community, business, and other rescue organizations increase our capacity and amplify our impact. We work together to achieve a common goal. At VHS we lead the way by actively cultivating cooperative partnerships. Integrity- Our path is paved with more than good intentions. At VHS we strive to act with integrity and honesty. Decisions are based on sound judgment and careful reasoning. We are fiscally responsible and understand our commitment to our animals, donors, volunteers, and community.

All hail May, the mayor of Kitty City. She governs from her favorite lofty perch, keeping a watchful eye over her constituents (the other resident cats) with the calm authority of a leader who's seen it all. Approach her office respectfully, on her terms, and she might just step down for some gentle pets.

May was found and spayed by a kind Good Samaritan before coming to Valley Humane, where she's spent the last few months winning over the whole Kitty City community. She's quiet, easygoing, and a total cat's cat, the kind of feline who'd rather curate her court than campaign for attention. Plus, her adoption fee is waived!

Ready to meet Her Honor? Stop by Kitty City Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM, or start your adoption inquiry now at https://bit.ly/4y4fPsX.

Questions first? Call (925) 426-8656, we'd love to tell you more about May.

BIG NEWS: To celebrate the end of Clear the Shelters month with NBC and NBC Bay Area, Valley Humane Society is waiving ALL adoption fees this Friday and Saturday, 8/28-8/29, from 10am to 4pm!

This is your sign to come find your new best friend. Take the money you'd have spent on the adoption fee and treat them to new toys and extra treats instead. It's a win for you and a win for every animal still waiting for a home.

We'd love to see you this weekend. Help us clear the shelters! Call (925) 426-8656, email [email protected], or visit https://bit.ly/3UhojOV.

This Philanthropy Thursday, we want to highlight Cat Care volunteer Robin Morris!

Robin recently published Lucy the Country Club Cat, inspired by the true story of a cat she met at a local country club and the community of tennis players who came together to care for her. And making the story even more special, Robin is donating all proceeds from the book to Valley Humane!

Beyond her support through Lucy the Country Club Cat, Robin is also joining the Valley Humane Cat Care team this month, volunteering her time to care for the cats and kittens in our Adoption Center.

We are so grateful for Robin’s support and so excited to welcome her to the Valley Humane volunteer community!

If you’d like to pick up a copy of Lucy the Country Club Cat, you can find it here: https://bit.ly/45UVfiH

Thank you, Robin!

Suki - We renamed her Suki (originally Bon Jovi). We adopted her from the Humane Society in March 2026 and we’ve had her ever since. We’ve hosted parties and Suki is very outgoing and crowds don't scare her. She is still a beginner at walking but loves the sun and being outside. The heart on her nose is what truly won us over; it’s a true representation of who she is. She loves everyone she meets.
