Recently our Community Room at Prete Apartments in Chicago came alive with the spirit of friendly competition during our "Board Games Bonanza." The afternoon served as a powerful reminder that the simplest activities—a box of plastic tiles and a grid of bright red and yellow checkers—can bridge the gap between the present and the treasured moments of the past.
The room filled with laughter and intense focus as we set up our two main events: Dominoes and Connect 4. Connect 4 brought out a lively, strategic energy, with everyone keeping a watchful eye on their opponent’s next move. However, it was the game of dominoes that truly stole the show, transforming a casual afternoon activity into a profound journey down memory lane.
The games unlocked a flood of beautiful memories for the participants. The game ceased to be just about matching numbers; instead, it became a living link to their personal histories.
