What was the exact moment that changed your perspective forever?
Our Serve & Shine volunteers may be back in the USA, but their hearts are still deeply moved by the life-changing moments they experienced in Egypt. In this video, they share the moments they realized they were in a completely different world.
From watching a young girl save her lunch to feed her siblings and mother, to witnessing the incredible reliance and generosity of families in Upper Egypt who want to give you the world despite having very little, these are the experiences that shift your heart forever.

Meet Nader, a 13-year-old middle school student from Abu Tig, Assiut!

He is struggling to continue his education and needs extra help that his parents can't afford. For $50 a month, Nader will receive tutoring in all the subjects he finds most challenging.

A Fun Day to Remember!
We travel far just to serve, but these kids give us so much more. In this final look back at our Serve & Shine 2026 mission, we are celebrating the pure joy of our Fun Day in Egypt.

From face painting and clowns to tie-dyeing T-shirts and sharing endless smiles, watching their beautiful faces shine is a memory we will cherish forever. Our team is back home in the USA now, but our hearts are still full of the love and laughter we shared with these incredible children.

"I was most afraid of the kids not understanding me..."
Stepping out of your comfort zone can be intimidating. Before our Serve & Shine team left the USA, the biggest fear among the group was the communication barrier. Our volunteers worried that not speaking perfect Arabic would stop them from bonding with the kids.
Instead, they found children who were incredibly kind, understanding, and respectful, never laughing at their mistakes. They quickly learned that even if you don't talk to them perfectly, they still communicate and love you just as much.

A special guest from Egypt, Dr. Ehab Faltaous, the head of the Shepherd and Mother of Light Board, shared inspiring stories of lives transformed through this service. Thanks to everyone's generosity, we successfully raised funds to provide good education, food, medicine, and hope to many families in need.
Thank you to all who attended, donated, and prayed. Together, we are bringing hope, one family at a time.

What assumptions did you have about poverty that were challenged?
Before going, many assumed poverty meant a lack of hope or just a need for physical things like food and shelter.
Instead, our youth found something beautiful: children whose faces lit up talking about God, and families who were so generous they wouldn't let the team leave their homes without offering them a drink. The families in Manfalot showed us that true wealth comes from faith and love.
