This is such a great outcome, seriously, this is exactly what successful TNR work is supposed to look like. Getting 7 out of 8 cats trapped, neutered, and returned is a huge win for stabilizing the colony! With just one more to go and we will get him!
Best part about this story is “one lucky friendly” found a home! That’s the best-case bonus. The beautiful grey kitty found a furever home!
It sounds like the feeder really paid attention and made the right call—some cats just aren’t meant to go back out once you see how social they are. She is now acclimated to her new home and siblings! That slow acclimation period is key, especially if she’s meeting new feline siblings. A lot of former outdoor cats take a bit to decompress, but once they do, they often become incredibly affectionate and loyal.
If you’re continuing to support a colony, it might be worth:
-Keeping an eye out for any newcomers (since colonies can shift)
-Making sure feeding happens on a schedule to discourage strays from wandering in
-Watching for signs of illness in the returned cats
