The sphere of technical operations, of the volunteers of the IEEE IAS, mainly revolves around the following four (4) axes - what we call Technical Departments.

If your engineering and technical interests align with the needs of the industry or the commercial sector, or generally the scope of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), the Society will be a valuable professional connection. Each Technical Department of the IEEE IAS is composed of several Technical Committees.

These IEEE IAS Technical Committees are responsible for the solicitation and selection of papers for presentation at IEEE Conferences, and publication recommendations in the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, the IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, the IEEE Open Journal of Industry Applications, or other major IEEE journals. Moreover, IEEE IAS Technical Committees are responsible for the initiation, preparation and formulation of Standards, Specifications, Operating and Application Guides, Test Procedures and Recommended Practices for issue in accordance with IEEE regulations. Technical Committees within IEEE IAS also provide technical assistance to chapters formed within their respective scope.

We are partnering with IEEE Industry Applications Society () to launch Impact in Action, a new grant program built for IAS members.

Here is what it offers:
→ Grants of up to $10,000 to fund a real-world project, with up to one year to implement it.
→ Bring the solution you already believe in to the need you have already identified on the ground.

Projects should fall under one of these Technology Impact Areas:
🎓Education (SDG 4)
🪫Clean energy and sustainable power (SDG 7)
🛜 ICT and digital connectivity (SDG 9)
🦺 Sustainable transportation, road safety, air quality, or waste management (SDG 11)

The IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) and IEEE Humanitarian Technologies have launched the first-ever Impact in Action Call for Proposals. Grants of up to US$10,000 will be awarded for IAS members to implement real-world technology solutions that improve quality of life in their local communities.

Teams of IAS members must submit their project proposal by 31 August for them to be evaluated. Proposals must leverage IAS-appropriate technologies and align with the Technology Impact Areas represented by a UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
