The IEEE Electron Devices Society celebrates Eric R. Fossum, Dartmouth, as the 2026 IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal recipient for the invention, development, and commercialization of the CMOS image sensor.

Eric invented the CMOS image sensor, now standard in cameras and mobile devices, enabling the miniaturization and democratization of imaging technology.
