The artificial intelligence powering today’s most advanced technologies — from medical research to autonomous systems — runs on infrastructure that Chris A. Malachowsky of NVIDIA helped build from the ground up.

Just a few weeks ago at the IEEE Honors Ceremony in New York City, Malachowsky received the 2026 IEEE Robert N. Noyce Medal “for pioneering parallel computing architectures and leadership in semiconductor design that transformed artificial intelligence, scientific research, and accelerated computing.”

As a co-founder of NVIDIA, he helped transform the GPU from a graphics-focused processor into a general-purpose parallel computing platform — a shift that redefined high-performance computing and helped catalyze the modern AI revolution. His work helped lay the foundation for the worldwide growth of AI applications in healthcare, climate modeling, research, software development, autonomous systems, and more.

This prestigious IEEE medal recognizes outstanding contributions to microelectronics and semiconductor technology. Thank you Intel Foundation.

Congratulations, Chris!
