The Zamora Shriners are Central Alabama's Temple of the Shriners International. Shriners are a Masonic fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. With nearly 200 temples (chapters) in several countries and thousands of clubs around the world. Our fraternity is open to men of integrity from all walks of life. In 1922 the Shriners founded the

first Shriners Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana. Since then this unique philanthropy has grown to an extraordinary health system with 22 facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Shriners Hospitals for Children is changing lives every day through innovative pediatric specialty care, world-class research and outstanding medical education. Our hospitals provide advanced care for children with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate.

What a great evening for Zamora Shriners to get out in the public for an event in the City of Irondale to support a local charity for Heidi’s Kids! We had a great turnout and made some great connections with City officials! Thanks to all of the Nobles and ladies for helping support this great cause!

We are requesting Shriners and families to come represent Zamora and support Heidi’s kids at this great event. We will have a booth with a tent for our members and families. This is a great opportunity to get our Temple visible in the public eye in Irondale where are new home will be. Hope to see you there Saturday, August 29th at 5pm! Wear a Shrine shirt and bring your fez please.

I made an official visit to my home lodge tonight, Moody No. 592. After having the Recorders office do some research, it turns out I am the first member of Moody Lodge to serve as Potentate of Zamora Temple. I decided it would be appropriate to make a presentation of a plaque/photo to the lodge for their archives to leave a permanent record of this accomplishment. I want to thank W.M. Paul Leger and the brethren for the warm welcome as well as Noble Roy Vest for attending with me for this visit. The food and fellowship was great and I look forward to being back in Moody Lodge soon!

I had the honor of being elected a Lifetime Member of the Walker County Shrine Club this evening. It was a great surprise! Thank you to all of the Nobles who made this possible. Many of you may or may not know, I was born and raised in Walker County so this was a special reception for me. Thank you for all you do to support not only your club, but Zamora as well!

Just a quick update to everyone:

The sellers of the building and property in Irondale have officially accepted and signed our contract to purchase our new home as of this afternoon. Our due diligence starts now.

Thanks again to everyone for the support and effort to get this done! We will continue to provide updates as we move forward.

The Park Ranger meeting scheduled for this Friday, August 7th has been postponed until next Friday, August 14th so that members may attend the funeral for Brother Eddie Lewis.
