Seeing those rainbow lights shining from the Governor’s Mansion means a lot to LGBTQ+ Kentuckians across the commonwealth.

Thank you, Governor Beshear, for helping make Kentucky a place where everyone can feel seen, valued, and welcome. Representation matters.

🏳️‍🌈Happy Pride Month, ya’ll.

We're kicking off Pride Month at the Governor's Mansion tonight and showing that, in Kentucky, we believe every person should be accepted and celebrated for who they are.

Today, on Harvey Milk Day, we remember a life and legacy rooted in courage, visibility, and the belief that LGBTQ+ people deserve to live openly and safely in the places they call home.

Harvey Milk understood that visibility was not symbolic. It was survival. He knew that when LGBTQ+ people are pushed into silence, erased from public life, or treated as threats to their own communities, the harm is not abstract. It touches families, schools, workplaces, churches, small businesses, and neighborhoods.

Nearly five decades after his assassination, LGBTQ+ people are still being asked to defend our right to exist openly. Trans people, q***r youth, drag performers, LGBTQ+ families, and those who stand with us continue to face fear, misinformation, harassment, and political attacks.

For LGBTQ+ people in Appalachia, Harvey’s message still matters. We know what it means to love a place that does not always know how to love us back. We know what it means to stay, to organize, to build community, and to insist that our lives belong here too.

Harvey Milk once said, “Hope will never be silent.”

Today, we honor him not with easy hope, but with active hope! You know, the kind that shows up, speaks clearly, protects one another, and refuses to let LGBTQ+ people be erased.

Pikeville Pride remembers Harvey Milk by continuing the work: building visibility, safety, belonging, and dignity for LGBTQ+ people in Eastern Kentucky and beyond.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Pikeville Pride 💐

Today we’re celebrating all the moms, mamaws, chosen family, and mother figures who make our community feel like home. Thank you for the love, kindness, and strength you pour into the people around you every single day.

We hope your day is filled with good food, warm hugs (if you’re into that type of thing), and plenty of love. 🌈💖

We’re excited to start something new for us! 🌈📅

Each month, we’ll be sharing an LGBTQ+ history calendar featuring important moments, milestones, and stories connected to specific days throughout the month.

✨ Print it✨ Keep it at your desk, hang it in a community space, or stick it on the fridge as a fun way to learn and celebrate LGBTQ+ history all year long! 💙

Each calendar will also include a QR code for anyone who’d like to support Pikeville Pride through PayPal.

We hope y’all enjoy our very first (ICYMI) calendar for April!

Keep an eye out for May’s upcoming calendar! These are scheduled to roll out during the first week of each month. 🗓️
