I swear the Cat Distribution System has my address on speed dial. 😂🐾

On my way home from work recently, I spotted a tiny kitten with a badly injured foot in the middle of a four-lane highway. I turned around, threw my hazards on, and was out there in a dress waving down a semi so I could safely get to it.

Sometimes helping animals isn't convenient... but sometimes they just need one person willing to stop. This initiative is to make getting help for these animals much easier in our area!

To the veterinarians, shelter workers, fosters, transport volunteers, wildlife rehabilitators, and everyday people who stop to help an injured or abandoned animal—you make our communities better.

Kindness doesn't always make the headlines, but it matters every single day. ❤️🐾

🐍 Today's Random Appalachian Critter Fact 🐍

Black snakes might surprise you, but they're actually some of the best neighbors you can have around your property.

They help keep rodent populations under control and generally want absolutely nothing to do with people. Most of the time, they're just trying to go about their day without being bothered.

Sometimes the critters that scare us the most end up helping us the most. ❤️

🌞 Summer Pet Safety Reminder 🐾

With these hot temperatures, I wanted to share a few simple reminders to help keep our furry friends safe:

💧 Make sure they always have access to fresh, clean water.

🌳 If they're spending time outside, they need access to shade or shelter from the sun.

🐾 Before walking your dog, place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5–7 seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even "just for a minute." Temperatures inside a car can rise dangerously fast.

❤️ A little extra attention during hot weather can make a big difference.
