A few months ago we posted that a pair of beavers had built a lodge on a pond at Coyote Run. The couple had mostly blocked off the overflow pipe which raised the level of the pond. Three months ago we found a dead beaver and assumed our beaver family was down to one. Recently Kevin discovered that a new dam was being constructed just below the outlet of the pond so maybe the dead beaver was an interloper and the original beaver family is still intack. The beaver saga continues…..

Mark Dilley and Jenny Adkins of MAD Scientist Associates guided a wetland delineation class through a transect-method wetland delineation in the forested wetlands of Coyote Run Farms. The Ohio State University organized and funded this training under a grant from NOAA’s Climate-Ready Workforce development program. This program strives to meet the emerging and existing needs of employers while helping workers find high quality jobs by investing in workforce training focused on climate resilience concepts, principles, and techniques and implementation, and ensuring direct hire or promotion into jobs related to climate resilience with an emphasis on training and hiring in place, especially to benefit underserved communities.
