๐๐ Behind every PrideFest is a community of people willing to do the work. ๐๐
Today, our board members and Operations Manager spent the day moving tents, tables, signs, crafts, merchandise, flyers, swag, and supplies out of storage and the office so everything is ready to head downtown first thing tomorrow morning.
What many people donโt see is that PrideFest isnโt built in a week or even a month. Planning begins in the fall when we apply for permits and begin working with the Borough, police, fire department, public works, and community partners to ensure PrideFest can happen safely and successfully. By February, our board is meeting every week to work through the countless details that make an event of this size possible: vendors, sponsors, volunteers, entertainment, logistics, accessibility, outreach, and moreโall while continuing the Allianceโs year-round work in advocacy, education, mental health support, and community building.
And perhaps most importantly, every member of our board is a volunteer.
In fact, the LGBT Equality Alliance only just hired its first part time staff member in February. Everything PrideFest has grown intoโwelcoming more than 20,000 attendees and over 200 vendorsโhas been built through the dedication of volunteers who believe our community deserves spaces where people can gather, celebrate, connect, and belong.
Tomorrow, when you walk down Bridge Street, know that hundreds of volunteer hours helped make that moment possible.
To our board, our volunteers, and everyone who has helped bring PrideFest to life: thank you.
Because none of us stand alone. ๐
