Today, we recognize and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

We honor the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples, as well as their generations of stewardship of the lands we call home.

We also recognize the injustice and hardships Indigenous peoples have endured throughout our nation’s history, and the challenges that continue today.

As union members, we believe in the dignity and equality of every person. IAM District 142 stands in solidarity with Indigenous peoples and communities in our shared pursuit of equality, justice, respect, and a better future for all.

District 142 General Chair Lollie Beecher had a great visit to Lubbock, TX recently to listen to our Southwest members' questions and concerns and address them with the station manager. Sister, thanks for always being there and being an advocate for our members.

District 142 continues to grow our membership through the hard work of our Organizing Department. This week, General Chairs Carrie Lessley, Lorraine Fraser, and Lollie Beecher joined D142 Director of Organizing Jackson Hartsfield at W3 for Organizing II. D142 members Kamila Kubalek, Evan Church, and Brandon Johnson also took part in the class, further expanding their knowledge and Organizing skills. District 142 Educators Ozzie Gomez and Renita Gibbs were in PHL this week, leading training classes for our newly elected shop stewards. In addition to providing valuable education and guidance, they had the privilege of witnessing the swearing-in of our newest representatives.
Seeing these dedicated members step into leadership roles is an exciting reminder of the strength and future of our union. We congratulate all of our new shop stewards and look forward to the important work they will do on behalf of the membership.
