Boilermakers Local 627, believes that the best way to honor a craft is to pass it on. This week as community outreach what a journey.

We were honored to host a field trip for welding students from Leupp Schools on the Navajo Nation. Their instructor is one of our very own: Graduate Apprentice Tina Benton.

Tina earned her skills to build a successful career as a Boilermaker. Now, she’s back at the training center this time leading the next generation of welders and showing them exactly what is possible with hard work and the right union behind them.

More Than Just a Job—We are proud to provide the tools that move people off assistance programs and into thriving, sustainable careers.

The Boilermaker Advantage includes:
• Healthcare: coverage for you and your family.
• Secure Retirement: A pension plan and annuity to ensure you’re taken care of long after the tools are put away.
• Earn While You Learn: Debt-free education through our apprenticeship programs.
• Career Longevity: An exciting, high-demand trade that offers pride and purpose.

What a great opportunity. Boilermakers Local 627 Phoenix AZ had the privilege of hosting Senator Ruben Gallego at our training facility to show the grit, skill, and dedication of Arizona’s blue-collar workforce.
During our supplemental welding classes, Senator Gallego suited up with PPE and he got to experience a quick course of the Boilermakers National Apprenticeship Program. We guided the essential skills our members perform. The sparks were flying as he first hand got to perform skills including:

🔹Stick Welding
🔹Arc Gouging
🔹 Torch Cutting
🔹 Chainfall Rigging
🔹 Tube Rolling

Meeting our apprentices gave Senator Gallego an introduction to our highly skilled and trained workforce. The Boilermakers struggles have been transferring our workforce from coal impacted communities into the semiconductor manufacturing and other heavy industrial manufacturing industries.
The Boilermaker trade is vital to Arizona. Our Local Developers must prioritize the use of local, skilled labor for construction projects.

Strengthening the Union Trades
A DEAL IS A DEAL!

Boilermakers Local 627 Phoenix AZ at the North America's Building Trades Unions Legislative Conference this week in Washington, D.C.

Covering Arizona, New Mexico, and Hawaii, our focus this week was firmly on the future of our members in the Islands.

Thank you to the Hawaii Building & Construction Trades Council.

It was an honor to es**rt Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz to the stage to address the NABTU conference. We are grateful for his continued leadership and his commitment to the working men and women of the Building Trades.
Boilermakers Local 627 advocated for Hawaii’s Maritime & Energy future this week involved discussing with Senator Mark Kelly’s Ships for America Act.

We highlighted the vital work being done at Shipyard International.
where our Boilermaker members are the backbone of Hawaii’s maritime industry.

Between potential new energy projects, refineries and critical dry dock work, the opportunities for Boilermakers are there. Our message to leadership was clear: Boilermakers need consistent project opportunities to revitalize our apprenticeship programs and retain skilled and trained Boilermakers in Hawaii. Steady work is the only way we can build the next generation of craftsmen.

Building Bridges, Mahalo to our friends and partners who joined us for a moment at the Hawaii Building Trades Dinner:
• Representative Jill Tokuda and Congressman Kaiali‘i Kahele great conversations.
• NABTU President Sean McGarvey and Secretary Treasurer Brandon Bishop for your time and leadership. Thank you for stopping by.
• Chang Suh, CFA with the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust for a productive conversation on investment in our communities.

This week was a phenomenal representation of Boilermakers When we advocate together, we ensure that the "Blue Collar" heartbeat of Hawaii stays strong.
