There are just hours left to submit your work for the 2026 SABEW Best in Business Book Awards. Entries close today, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m. ET.

The awards recognize outstanding nonfiction business books published between Aug. 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026, in three categories:
• Business Reporting
• Career and Financial Development
• Management and Leadership

Whether your book explores companies, markets and economics, helps readers navigate their careers or finances, or offers insights on leadership and management, this is your opportunity to have your work recognized by an esteemed panel of business journalists and finance professionals.

Current entry fees:
• $125 (USD) – SABEW members
• $150 (USD) – Nonmembers

Today is the last day to save $25 on your entry to the 2026 SABEW Best in Business Book Awards!

Submit your entry by 5 p.m. ET today (Monday, Aug. 10) to lock in current pricing before entry fees increase.

The final deadline to enter is Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m. ET, so you still have time to submit—but after today's deadline, entry fees will increase by $25.

Applications are now open for the St. Louis Goldschmidt FRED Fellowship, Sept. 21-22, an advanced, in-person data workshop designed for business journalists looking to strengthen their use of economic data.

Selected fellows will have the opportunity to:
• Visit the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis
• Learn how to graph and analyze FRED economic data
• Explore new data releases and reporting opportunities
• Hear from experts about how the Federal Reserve gathers and uses economic information to help inform monetary policy
• Suggest topics for this year's workshop

The workshop is funded by a grant from the Walter and Karla Goldschmidt Foundation and organized by Marty Steffens, former SABEW chair and professor emeritus at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

Applications are due Monday, Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. ET.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Andrew Leckey, an accomplished business journalist, author, educator, and longtime member of SABEW's Board of Governors.

Andrew devoted his career to advancing business journalism through reporting, broadcasting, education, and mentorship. He worked at the Chicago Tribune, Channel 7 in Chicago, and CNBC before helping establish business journalism programs at Boston University and UC Berkeley. As founding president of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, he trained thousands of journalists and students in the United States and abroad.

In 2023, SABEW honored Andrew with the President's Award in recognition of his extraordinary service to the organization and his commitment to educating and mentoring business journalists around the world.

Andrew's legacy will live on through the countless journalists he mentored, the students he inspired, and the lasting impact he made on SABEW and the business journalism community.
