We’re excited to share that Northern has been awarded $300,000 through Pennsylvania’s Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) Program to support significant safety and lighting improvements across our 6.5-acre campus. 💙

The funding will help us improve lighting in parking areas, along pedestrian walkways, around building perimeters, and in other areas where lighting is currently inadequate, outdated, or nonfunctional. Planned improvements include new lighting poles and fixtures, upgraded LED lighting, and additional building-mounted security lighting.

For the children, youth, and families who live on and visit Northern’s campus — and the staff who support them around the clock — this project is about more than infrastructure. A safe, welcoming environment is essential to creating the stability and sense of security young people need to heal, grow, and thrive.

We’re incredibly grateful to State Senator Vincent Hughes and State Representative Tarik Khan for supporting this investment, as well as the Philadelphia Police Department’s 5th District, Manayunk Development Corporation, Roxborough Development Corporation, and Wissahickon Interested Citizens Association for supporting our application.
