SEAMAAC, Inc.

SEAMAAC, Inc. To support and serve marginalized communities in Philadelphia as they seek to advance their lives.

History
Founded more than 40 years ago by refugees, SEAMAAC's journey is a story of America shared by a long tradition & history of many immigrants & refugees who first sought refuge in the United States and eventually became the cornerstones of our nation. Our commitment in serving people regardless of race or national origins has inspired our mission and vision in building a stronger society based on the principles of justice and equity for all. SEAMAAC provides a wide array of direct services and takes an active approach to building community leadership through education, organizing and advocacy. SEAMAAC envisions a strong and unified society, where immigrants and refugees work alongside other Americans to build shared political, economic and social power. We envision a community where the contributions of each generation of Americans, whether native to this land, immigrant, or brought against their will, are equally acknowledged, valued and embraced, and where all people live whole, healthy lives with joy and dignity.

Thank you to the staff and board of the Neighborhood Gardens Trust for visiting SEAMAAC and for your leadership in helping us steward, preserve, and protect green spaces in our community.

The preservation of the land that houses 100+ garden plots at our Growing Home Gardens would not be possible without your advocacy, effort, and commitment to protecting these spaces for generations to come.

As a new school year begins, there is so much excitement and sometimes uncertainty for children and parents alike. New classrooms, new routines, new hopes, and new challenges all come with the start of school.

We’re grateful for the schools, teachers, families, and local community partners who help turn that uncertainty into confidence. When our community comes together, children know they are supported and families know they are not alone.

Here’s to a wonderful school year filled with opportunity, joy, and success for every child. Thank you to the wonderful folks Francis Scott Key School
for having us.

Unfortunately, due to the forecast of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday, we have made the precautionary decision to postpone the basketball tournament to Sunday, 8/23. The safety of all the youth participating in the tournament is our top priority.

We have delayed making this decision and notification for as long as possible while monitoring the forecast, but the anticipated weather conditions are not favorable for the tournament.

Our backpack distribution will begin at 12 PM. *Child must be present to receive a backpack.

We understand that the change may create scheduling conflicts. Thank you for understanding. We truly appreciate your continued support! Please share this new date with your community.
