The best parks aren’t just enjoyed—they’re cared for. 🌿🌸

One of the things that makes Columbus Square so special is the incredible variety of flowers, trees, and gardens that change with the seasons. They didn’t happen by accident. They’re the result of years—often decades—of care from dedicated volunteers who plant, w**d, water, prune, and nurture this shared space for everyone.

Lately, we’ve noticed more flowers being taken, branches being torn from trees, and plants being damaged during play. We know most of the time it isn’t meant to cause harm, but even small actions can have a lasting impact.

As you enjoy the park this summer, please help us protect what makes it so special:

🌼 Leave flowers for everyone to enjoy; please do not cut or pick them.
🌳 Please don’t climb trees or break their branches.
🦋 Help protect the plants and wildlife that call the park home.
❤️ If you see someone accidentally damaging the park, a kind reminder can make a difference.

🎨✨ Calling all creative tweens & teens (ages 12+)!

Looking for something fun to do on Wednesday nights this summer? Join us at the Columbus Square Recreation Center for Tween & Teen Arts & Crafts Night!

Get creative, make something unique, and spend time with friends in a fun, welcoming environment. Projects include activities like Shrinky D***s, friendship bracelets, and other hands-on crafts.

The Columbus Square Recreation Center is extending its weekday hours from July 6–August 14!

From July 6 through August 14, the Columbus Square Recreation Center is extendeding weekday hours, giving kids, families, and neighbors even more opportunities to stay active, cool off, and enjoy everything the park has to offer.

🗓 Monday–Friday
🕘 9:00 AM–9:00 PM

More time to play, explore, stay active, and make the most of summer. We hope to see you there! 🌿

The Columbus Square Sprayground is open daily from 11 AM–7 PM through Labor Day! ☀️

🕘 Monday–Friday: 9 AM–8:30 PM*
🕘 Saturday & Sunday: 9 AM–8 PM

Please note:
*After August 15, weekday field hours will be 1–8:30 PM.

Please remember to be mindful and respectful of field space when it’s being used by permit holders:

🏕️ Columbus Square Summer Camp (weekdays, 9 AM–4 PM)

🏫 Christopher Columbus Charter School Camp (weekdays, 12:15–1:15 PM)

⚽ Soccer Shots (Mondays and Sundays)

🏈 Philadelphia City Football Club (Tuesdays)

🏐 Philadelphia Volleyball (Saturdays & Sundays)

If a permitted group is using the field, please help us respect their reserved time by using another area until their permit ends.

🌧️ One more reminder: The field will remain closed during and immediately after rainfall to protect the grass and help keep it in great shape all season long.

Happy First Day of Summer ☀️🍦🌼✨

Summer has arrived at Columbus Square with gardens bursting with colorful bloom, folks and their furry buddies soaking up the sun along Reed Street, and little ones splashing in the sprayground. The season is already bringing plenty of reasons to smile ☀️💦🌸

Here’s to sunshine, connection, and all the little moments that make summer special.

Summer’s here, and we love seeing the park full of life! ☀️🎉

From birthday parties and graduation celebrations to family gatherings and everyday get-togethers, we’re grateful that so many people choose Columbus Square as a place to make memories.

As the busy season gets underway, we need your help keeping the park clean and enjoyable for everyone. If you’re hosting a gathering, please plan to take all party-related trash and recycling home with you when you leave.

By packing out what you bring in, you’re helping us:

• Keep the park clean and welcoming
• Prevent overflowing trash cans
• Reduce litter and windblown debris
• Avoid attracting rodents and other wildlife to trash areas
• Help park staff keep up with daily maintenance needs

While we have multiple trash pickups each week, our park trash cans are designed to handle the everyday waste generated by park visitors. They simply can’t accommodate the large amounts of trash and recycling that come with parties and special events, especially pizza boxes and full bags of garbage.

We love being part of your celebrations, and we appreciate everyone who helps care for this shared community space by taking party trash and recycling home with them.

Thank you for helping keep our park beautiful all summer long! 🌳♻️💚
