We had a great Uptown Radio WJYN 98.5 FM training yesterday with new radio show hosts, current hosts, Board of Directors, Temple University students and volunteers. Community storyteller and Quiltmaker Mama Carla Wiley who kicked things off by talking about the work and legacy of founder and late board member Linda Richardson . Mama Carla gave us the charge to build like Linda...from the inside > out, build the structure (buildings and systems), build people up from within and then you can continue building in your community and continuing the legacy. 🤏🏽🫰🏽

We thought the forecast was going to scare people away but turns out folks yearned for some community connection today. What a great day of bike riding through North Philly learning about neighborhood history and the community revitalization work of Uptown Uedc . And we thoroughly enjoyed storytelling and quiltmaking with Mama Carla Wiley . Thanks to professor Bryant Simon from Temple University for sending students to learn from us, to our Uptown Radio WJYN 98.5 FM and Uptown Youth Got Talent (Uptown Theater Philadelphia) volunteers you are appreciated!
