We are bridging nostalgia + new era of entertainment with this year's Uptown June Black Music Month celebration on Saturday, June 27, 2026 @ 10am-3pm!
Event Details:
As Pennsylvania is celebrating its role in the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Uptown Entertainment & Development Corporation Uptown Uedc is excited to join the celebrations of America’s rich and diverse history. Uptown’s semiquincentennial event will take place Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at the Uptown Theater, 2240 N Broad St Philadelphia, PA 19132 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Preserving and celebrating North Philadelphia’s impact on Philadelphia history is very much a part of American history. This event will celebrate the Uptown Theater’s crucial involvement in history as Philadelphia and America is celebrating 250 years.

INSIDE UPTOWN THEATER

*Pop Up museum inside the historic Uptown Theater lobby with artifacts donated from historians, archivists, R & B musicians, Record Labels and community members' personal collections
*Virtual Tour Drone experience
*Oral history and re-enactments
OUTDOOR @ BABA YAHYA'S GARDEN:
* FREE community garden celebration with pop up songwriting & sound recording workshop and musical instrument lessons with Beyond the Bars
*FREE mini concert featuring Uptown Youth Got Talent (Uptown Theater Philadelphia) Vocal Coaching program & Dyani Myles
*Film screenings
* "Tell Your Uptown Story" on air with Uptown Radio WJYN 98.5 FM
* Music by The Scratch Brothers
*Performances by Zay Money
