**Service Information**

Visitation will be Saturday, June 27th at 12n, the Service will follow at 1pm at Schaeffer Funeral Home.

It is with great sadness that the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Lifetime Member John Helmick.

John dedicated 51 years of service to our department and was always there whenever he was needed. His commitment to PVFC went far beyond responding to calls. Every year, while he was still working, John made sure we had the supplies needed for our annual bash, helping behind the scenes to ensure its success. His dedication, dependability, and support of our organization will never be forgotten.

John's presence will be missed tremendously by all of us. His contributions to our department and our community have left a lasting impact that will be remembered for generations.

Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and the entire Helmick family during this difficult time.

The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company will be honoring John with a Fireman's Funeral. Additional service information will be posted as it becomes available.

Rest easy, John. Thank you for your 51 years of service and dedication.

**Drone 400 Assists with Quick Location of Brush Fire**

This afternoon at 1331hrs, Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a reported smoke investigation. Upon arrival in the area, Brush 400 observed smoke and detected the odor of smoke, confirming that a fire was likely nearby.

Chief Funk assumed command and requested the response of Drone 400. Within less than one minute of launch, Drone 400 successfully located the brush fire, allowing responders to be directed quickly and efficiently to the scene. Crews were then able to access and extinguish the fire before it could spread further.

Operating on scene were:
• Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company
• Maysville Volunteer Fire Company
• Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company
• West Virginia Division of Forestry

A special thank you to Grant County OEM & 911 for their hard work behind the scenes coordinating resources and supporting operations.

Today's incident is another example of how emerging technology, combined with teamwork and strong interagency cooperation, helps us better protect the citizens of Grant County.
