“Your community is either losing self esteem or building it. There is no neutral.” Spread Pride not Litter. Keep Alabama Beautiful

I have spent the majority of my life in three places and each one taught me how community self-esteem operates.

The first was where I grew up. Low self-esteem. I walked away at eighteen because I didn't have the tools to help it and I was worried about being dragged down by it.

The second was a town in the midst of the struggle. Over ten years, working with an incredible group of people who understood this dynamic, we fought to restore the town's sense of self-esteem. And it worked. The town changed. Residents feel quite differently about it now. It has a very different sense of self today.

The third was a place that had been very intentional about protecting its high sense of self-esteem. I moved there to understand what it felt like to live in a place that already loved itself and you can feel it each and every day.

Three different relationships. Three completely different outcomes.

Your community is no different. It is either building self-esteem or losing it.

There is no neutral.

🌿 FRISCO CITY IS IN!
We’re excited to welcome the Town of Frisco City to the Keep Alabama Beautiful chapter network!

Keep Alabama Beautiful Executive Director Denise Taylor recently visited with Mayor Brandaun Love and the Frisco City Council to celebrate the new partnership and deliver free cleanup tools and litter prevention resources to help support their efforts.

This is what community partnerships look like—local leaders stepping up, working together and giving residents more opportunities to take pride in the place they call home. Strong communities are built through strong partnerships—and we’re proud to work alongside Frisco City as they Love Their Alabama Hometown!

Let’s !

Love where you live! Help make your hometown litter-free. Keep Alabama Beautiful can provide litter clean up supplies for volunteer clean up events. Our new campaign will have us reaching to libraries to launch our “CHECK IT OUT” program. This program will allow someone to “Check out” safety vests, litter grabbers, pair of gloves and a trash bag. The “check out” will place accountability on returning the grabbers and vests so they can be used long term by many volunteers. Take pride and make an impact where you live. Reach out to us if you’re affiliated with a library or local government.
