PSA from Public Works: Many common household products require special disposal to help protect our waterways, environment, and community. Items such as paint, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, automotive fluids, and other hazardous materials should NEVER be poured down the drain, dumped on the ground, washed into storm drains, or placed in your regular trash or recycling bin; they should be taken to a household hazardous waste collection event or disposal facility like the Stella Roberts Recycling Center (which Manvel residents have the ability to use for FREE)! ♻️

🎨 Our team had the opportunity to tour the Ramsey Unit and see firsthand the amazing ways they’ve repurposed paint from the Stella Roberts Recycling Center. Over the past year, the unit has collected more than 50,000 lbs of recycled paint to help restore and revitalize their space!

From murals and freshly painted buildings to updated cafeteria and recreation areas, this project shows the impact of giving materials a second life through recycling. But the transformation goes beyond the walls — the Ramsey Unit believes in rehabilitation over recidivism, creating opportunities for inmates to learn skills, contribute to their environment, and take pride in their work.

Many of the painting projects were completed by inmates themselves, providing meaningful jobs and a sense of purpose while helping improve the spaces they live and work in! 🖌

A huge thank you to Officer Washington and Warden Massie for making this tour possible and welcoming us to see this incredible work firsthand. 💚♻️

WE ARE OUT OF TREES
Celebrate 250 years of America by beautifying your yard with a free tree! 🌳 Stop by Stella Roberts Recycling Center to grab up to 2 trees provided by Trees For Houston during our Red, White & Blue tree giveaway! Choose from Red Oak, White Live Oak, and Elderberry one-gallon trees! We will also have bluebonnets and old glory flower mix seed packets available!

Stop by on July 3rd for our Red, White and Blue 250 Tree Giveaway! ❤️🤍💙 Get in the holiday spirit with a tree! 🌳The recycling center will be closed for maintenance during this time, but the trees will be available for pick up outside the Stella Roberts Recycling Center from 9a.m to 1p.m.

Hi friends!🚨 Heads up, we will be closed next week for quarterly maintenance from June 30 to July 7th (including the 4th of July holiday). We will reopen on July 8th for all your recycling needs! ☺️

🧐 Did you know? Keep Pearland Beautiful is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower residents to take responsibility for their environment. To help manage our budget at the recycling center, we do require businesses to have a paid membership in order to recycle certain items.

🤝 This allows us to continue serving the broader community at no cost or with basic cost-recovery models, where possible.

♻️ While general recycling such as paper, cardboard, plastic, scrap, and glass are always welcome from residents and businesses alike, certain items such as computers, TVs, monitors, printers, phones, and office electronics require a membership for businesses to recycle at our facility.

🙌 Thanks to everyone for your patience today! It's important to remember that while you're waiting in your vehicle, our attendants are working in the elements all day and today was a doozy with this humidity and heat!

🥵 We processed 260 vehicles today in 4 hours. We greatly appreciate everyone for your patience and your dedication to responsibly discarding and recycling your materials.

🏅 For everyone else... we just ask that you remember the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." 😇
