Last evening Fálki Heiđdóttir led an amazing Women’s Art Journaling Workshop at The Orchard.

Just as the leaves release themselves from the trees in the fall, participants were invited to let go of what no longer serves them and embrace the freedom to create.🍂🧡

Using a variety of multimedia materials, participants explored self-expression, creativity, and the beauty of letting go while creating unique works of art across the page. Each layer was a reminder that releasing what weighs us down can open the door to new possibilities, growth, and transformation.✨

🎨KMHS Art Club Visits The Orchard 💫

A big thank you to Mrs. Howes and the Katahdin Schools KMHS Art Club for joining us yesterday for a pottery workshop with local artist, Liz Allen, from Local Mud. Thank you, Liz, for sharing your expertise, encouragement, and passion with this budding group of artists.

We loved watching this amazing group of young people support one another, persevere through a few minor frustrations on the wheels, and practice patience and kindness with themselves and with their art! They connected, created, experimented, problem-solved, and encouraged one another along the way. Each participant created a unique piece of pottery. 💫

We can’t wait to see everyone again for a glazing day! 🎨💙

🎃📚 What a SPOOKTACULAR afternoon! 👻✏️

A wonderful time was had by all at our Spooky Comics Workshop on Saturday! We had a playful afternoon exploring comic story development, learning how to use comic panels, developing our own stories, and—most importantly—being kind to our comics! 🦇💭 What a fun and creative experience for everyone!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this workshop such a success!

A big thank you to Mrs. Pocock and the children in Katahdin Elementary School’s ASP program for joining us at The Orchard for an after school pottery workshop with local artist Liz Allen of Local Mud!

Children had the opportunity to explore both hand building and wheel throwing, while Liz encouraged them to think about the ways nature can inspire pottery and creativity. Each child created a unique piece while learning new skills, experimenting with clay, and connecting with a local artist.

Thank you, Mrs. Pocock, Liz, and Katahdin Schools for creating this opportunity for children to connect with nature, art, and local community artists.

We love seeing The Orchard become a place where learning happens through creativity, exploration, and meaningful community connections! 🌿🎨💛

This week we welcomed students from Katahdin Schools KES After School Program to learn about Cyanotype Printing from artist, Risica Caputi. Children created their own prints and could observe the photochemical reaction magically happening before their eyes!
