After a rainy setup day, we are looking at a beautiful forecast for tomorrow, Saturday October 3rd, for Stars Over Katahdin! ✨ And we are just about at peak foliage as well 🍁

🅿️ Please note parking is slightly different this year - we will have two lots along Swift Brook Road immediately before you arrive at Taylor’s; only handicap and presenter parking is available by the registration area. Volunteers can direct you to the right spot.

🍲 Vona’s Lunch Wagon and Thailicious Food Truck available on site, or pack a picnic.

⭐️ We recommend bringing camp chairs for campfire chats, water bottle, and extra layers as we expect a cold evening. A red light headlamp or flashlight will help you with evening visibility on the field as well for safety.

⛰️ Consider visiting Tekakapimek Contact Station in Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument before the event - open 10am to 4pm.

This Saturday, October 3rd, the night sky takes center stage at Stars Over Katahdin! Join us at Taylor's Katahdin View Camps in Stacyville for an evening that starts with the sun and ends beneath the stars. Safely view the sun through a telescope, launch a model rocket, gather around for campfire chats and live music, and as darkness falls, take in the Milky Way and explore the night sky through high-powered telescopes with the guidance of astronomers.

Whether you’re a lifelong stargazer or simply want to spend an evening outside looking up, Stars Over Katahdin is a night worth making plans for.

A connection to the outdoors often starts with an opportunity to get outside. And the Katahdin Learning Project is creating those opportunities for local youth. Through free, place-based programs, local students are getting out on the trails, into the forests, and onto the rivers, often exploring places they may not otherwise have had the chance to experience. For some students, it may be their first time exploring these places. And for many, it’s the beginning of a deeper understanding of the place they call home.

For 10 years, Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument has helped bring people to the Katahdin region to hike, paddle, camp, explore, and experience a special landscape. Today, the monument welcomes an average of 40,000 visitors each year, generating an estimated $2.7 million in annual visitor spending in the region.

It’s a rising tide that can lift all boats, creating more opportunities for communities and businesses while giving residents and visitors even more ways to connect with this place.

That’s a decade of progress worth celebrating, and a future worth protecting.
