Obi may have started his journey as a little auction rescue, but he has quickly become one of the biggest personalities around here. 😂❤️

He is sweet, affectionate, and SO funny—and he keeps us laughing every single day. His expressions, his personality, and just the way he is… there’s never a dull moment with Obi. 😂🐴

We’re pretty sure Obi knows he was rescued… and now he’s just here to make sure we never stop smiling. 🥰🐴

We are incredibly grateful that we were able to save this little guy, and we have YOU to thank for making that possible. To every donor, supporter, person who shared his story, sent a kind message, or cheered Obi on along the way—thank you. ❤️ Rescue truly is a team effort, and Obi is here today because of that team.

Obi’s story is a reminder of why we keep showing up.

When we found him in the slaughter pipeline, he was scared, confused, and searching for human touch and kindness. He didn’t know that someone was coming for him.

Now look at him. 🥹✨ He’s learning to trust, discovering how much he loves attention, playing with his brush, and most importantly… he knows he’s safe.

💜 That smile says it all.

✨OBI’S RESCUE DIDN’T END WHEN WE SAVED HIM.

Today was a big day for our little guy. 🥹

Obi had his wolf teeth removed, received his vaccines now that he is healthy enough, and—most importantly—he was gelded. 💜

His total veterinary bill came to $521.51, and we’ve included the invoice in the photos for transparency.

But today is also a reminder of something we say often:
Rescue isn’t over after you save them.

Saving Obi from the slaughter pipeline was only the beginning. The real work continues with veterinary care, rehabilitation, patience, and all of the little—and sometimes not so little—expenses that come with giving an animal a second chance.

For the next 24 hours, Obi will be on stall rest. After that, he’ll need daily movement and close monitoring while he heals.

And this little guy isn’t just getting a second chance—he is home.

Obi is now sanctuaried with us and will become an ambassador for the countless animals still at risk, helping us educate the public about the slaughter pipeline and why these animals deserve a chance.

We saved him. Now we need our rescue village to help us continue the care he deserves. 💜🙏🏻

Meet the sweet soul you helped save. 🤍🫏

Because of YOU, this approximately 15-year-old mule is no longer facing an uncertain future at auction. He is safe, loved, and finally getting the chance he deserves.

He is settling into quarantine in a big pasture and has a good weight on him. He is understandably a little standoffish right now, but we can see that he wants to trust. He wants to want attention. His kind eyes tell us there is a sweet soul underneath. So far, he has also made it very clear that he loves cookies. 🥹

Although we are so grateful we were able to save him, the work is just beginning. He urgently needs:
✨Dental care — his teeth are desperately overdue
✨A mash diet — his manure is currently very dry
✨Deworming and SandClear
✨Veterinary care for a respiratory infection and cough
✨A much-needed farrier appointment for his extremely overgrown feet

Some days, rescue gives you moments that make every challenge worth it.

This is one of those moments. ❤️

Just look at Obi.

The little mini horse who arrived unsure of what the future held has completely blossomed. The cautious little guy who needed time to learn that he was safe is now running, playing, and showing us his sweet, goofy personality. He’s not just surviving anymore — he’s truly happy. He’s home.

Watching him run simply because he can is a reminder of why we do this. Every sleepless night, every difficult decision, every plea for help… it’s all worth it when you see a life transformed.

None of this would have been possible without this incredible community. Every donation, every share, every message of encouragement, and every person who believed in Obi helped change the course of his life. You didn’t just help save a mini horse — you gave him the chance to experience safety, love, and a future.

Now that Obi is fully settled in and his personality is shining through, it’s time to celebrate another special milestone… his official tag removal! 🎉

This sweet 15-year-old mini mule is waiting for his chance at a safe future — and we are so close to making that happen.

Right now, he is caught in the harsh reality that so many unwanted equines face. When there is no one to advocate for them, horses, donkeys, and mules can find themselves in the slaughter pipeline — where their value is reduced to a price tag instead of the incredible lives they have lived.

But this boy is not a number. He is a gentle soul who has spent 15 years in this world and deserves to spend his next years feeling safe, cared for, and loved. 🫏❤️

Thanks to the generosity of our rescue community, we have already secured his freedom — but we still need $405 to cover his transport and bring him home.

His purchase price was $708 and transport is $604, bringing the total needed to get him safely here to $1,312.
