Hello friends, it has certainly been a while!
I wanted to take a moment to keep everybody informed of what has been going on with True Natured Rescue Inc. As you may already know, we are a family-run operation that functions on your donations & our own personal funds to back the rescue. Not only do we handle daily operations, but our family also works 40 + hours a week, in mental health. Since relocating, in October of 2023, getting our rescue facility established has been a slow process. Currently, we have been working to save up our own personal money to get secure fencing in place to ensure any animals that come into our care, are safe & well-secured.
Yet, we do not currently have the funds for the entire property. Don’t get me wrong, we have BIG plans but it will all just take some time. This unfortunately results in us having to turn away euthanasia-listed dogs. Yes, we are foster based, but we also must guarantee a safe place for our animals if a foster family is no longer able to care for our rescues.
Over this transitional period, we have been brainstorming the best route for not only the rescue, but our family as well. It has forced us to reevaluate how the rescue operates and aids our wonderful community. Although we are in this to save the pets of CA, we also work in mental health and recognize that the people of our community need our help too. Now that we have had some space and time to reflect on the rescue, a “bigger picture” has come into focus. This perspective has encouraged us to utilize not only our experiences with shelter/rescue work but also apply what we know when working with people.
All things considered; we are refocusing our mission. At the moment, we are drafting letters to our local transitional housing resources. It is our hope that we can provide a place that will assist various vulnerable populations with their pets whether it is providing an avenue for supplies, vet appointments or training. We have not yet ironed out the details of how, but we are hoping to provide a safe, judgement free place, where pet owners can find the means they require, for their companions. I hope that this update finds you well.
Thank you for your continued support and patience while we implement new ideas and determine the most efficient ways to help not only the pets of Central California, but their owners as well. 💜
