Central Coast Community Raises Over $30,000 to
Protect Lake Nacimiento at Record-Breaking “Save
The Dragon” Event
300+ attendees, 40+ silent auction items, and an outpouring of generosity from
businesses and community members across the Central Coast
PASO ROBLES, CA — The Nacimiento Regional Water Management Advisory
Committee (NRWMAC) is proud to announce one of its most successful fundraising
events in the organization’s history — the “Save The Dragon” fundraiser raised over
$30,000 for the protection of Lake Nacimiento — and to say a heartfelt thank you to
every single person and business that made it possible.
On June 6, 2026, more than 300 community members packed California Coast Beer
Co. in Paso Robles for an afternoon of live music, craft beer, wine, BBQ, raffle
drawings, and a 40+ item silent auction — all in the name of one of the Central Coast’s
most treasured natural resources.

300 people showed up not just for a great afternoon — they showed up
because they care deeply about this lake and what we’re doing and
advocating for. That kind of community support means everything.
This was truly a community effort, and the word ‘thank you’ barely
scratches the surface of what we feel. The people who donated their time,
their craftsmanship, their products, and their money — they are the
reason we can keep fighting for this lake. We are humbled and inspired by
every single one of you.”

The success of this event was built on the generosity of dozens of individuals and
businesses across the Central Coast who gave what mattered most — their time, their
talent, and their heart. From the crews who set up and broke down the venue, fired up
the BBQ, and kept the music alive, to the local artists who donated original works, the
award-winning Paso Robles wineries who contributed cases of their finest, and the
community members who offered everything from once-in-a-lifetime experiences to
handcrafted pieces made with genuine care — every single contribution had a name
and a story behind it, and every one of them mattered.
Special recognition goes to California Coast Beer Co., whose venue set the perfect
stage for an unforgettable afternoon — the atmosphere was nothing short of
spectacular. Equal recognition belongs to the local artisans, businesses, wineries, and
individuals whose donations made the silent auction one of the finest NRWMAC has

A Community Coming Together for the Lake
NRWMAC also extends its deepest gratitude to the 300+ attendees who purchased
tickets, bid with enthusiasm, tried their luck in the raffle, and spent their afternoon
standing up for Lake Nacimiento. You didn't just fill a room — you fueled a mission.
Your presence and your generosity are what make NRWMAC possible, and what make
events like this worth every effort.
Why It Matters: Protecting the Lake
NRWMAC is a nonprofit organization that has represented the interests of Lake
Nacimiento property owners, visitors, and recreation enthusiasts since 1992. NRWMAC
is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit — its board of directors receives no compensation —
and is funded entirely through community donations and events like this one.
NRWMAC holds a seat on the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Reservoir
Operations Committee and has been actively engaged in public advocacy, community
education and even legal action to protect the lake’s water levels, prevent Quagga
mussel infestation, and ensure the long-term health of this vital regional resource. The
funds raised on June 6th directly support that work.
Lake Nacimiento Belongs to All of Us
NRWMAC’s mission extends beyond the lake’s shoreline. Lake Nacimiento is a water
source, a recreation destination, a fire suppression resource, and an economic engine
for communities across San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties. Protecting it is
everyone’s responsibility — and everyone’s opportunity.
The committee is actively seeking new members, donors, and supporters from across
the broader Central Coast community. You don’t have to live on the lake to care about
its future — and make no mistake, the lake affects all of the county.
