Another difficult goodbye. Toby, a cat that was dumped off the highway in a farm area at 8 years old, was not doing well the last few days but eating and drinking. He lost weight rapidly. He is FIV positive. I took him to the vet today to see what is going on and we found a large cancerous mass in his stomach and necrotic tissue in his mouth. I cannot watch him suffer, so we have decided to let him go peacefully over the rainbow bridge today. He will not get better. He had a good year with us, safe from harm and a full belly.

17 Year old declawed Bonnie came to us in July this year when her owner passed away. To be clear: We do NOT support declawing cats!! We got her already declawed!

She gave the vet a run for his money the other day and we will need to bring her back there in a week or so with some "calm me down" meds to measure the pressure in her eye to see if the issue is melanoma (cancer) or Glaucoma.

We ordered special food for her kidney disease and hope to give her a peaceful time before she joins her owner in the afterlife. We hope to have a little while before that! Meanwhile, back at the ranch, she makes herself quite comfy on my lap and appears to have forgiven me for the trip to the vet LOL!!

Welcome Moo!! He is pretty rough looking and as we know, the vet could not even draw enough blood to check what is going on inside!! So we give him extra feedings throughout the day as to not overload his system. He acts like he has been here all his life and climbs cat towers no problem!! So we will see if we can get him to gain some weight here and try that bloodwork again soon with our vets. He loves our patio.

At 7:12pm Cole came and guided Marm over the rainbow bridge with him. Thankfully, he was at home being cuddled with us both as he transitioned.

We are in shock still and will update more later…

Life...just getting more expensive. i am sure everyone here can relate. Spay and neuters have gotten a lot more expensive. We don't have a lot of resources in our county for rescues unfortunately. So a cat neuter with vaccines and tests now costs us $175 and a cat spay $185! That is double than when we first started out! We still need your support. We have the cats going for their surgeries the next few Mondays. We have Blizzard, Tofu, Alaska, Alba and Yeti going next Monday. That is 5 cats!! Sherry, the fragile kitten from Polk County is also going.

If you can sponsor some of these services for the cats, we can use your help. Here is the breakdown.

Started the catio "super highway" project. We are trying to free up the floor space and elevate houses and beds in the air for the cats. More soon. We will be adding houses that we plan to add to the shelves to our Amazon wish list if you would like to help us. We will seal and paint them so they dont deteriorate outside and then start on the inside as well. It is not overnight but I am excited.

I want to start a movement to change the fact that animals are considered personal property and that they should have their own status with rights. How do I start that or is there already a movement for that we can join? Particularly for cats!!!

This is an extra back bedroom in the main house. It connects to a large patio in the back. That patio got hit by Hurricane Milton and we are still renovating it but the cats can use it already and are actively using the cat door in the window. We try to mimic regular living conditions and keep them cage free as much as possible. It was laundry day today and the cats quickly claim their afternoon nap spots during the rain storms.

Featured senior. We took Bonnie aka Little Girl in this past July after her owner passed away. She is 17 years old, has stage II kidney disease and is declawed. She has eye issues too. She was not easy to get in a carrier LOL and quite intimidating at first. Her bites draw blood to make up for lack of claws. Other cats keep their distance and now she understands that she gets served wet food every day by yours truly has become my new BFF. She now sits on my lap but overstimulates quickly and when she does not get her way, she bites and means it! We love her anyway.
