To turn my down and sad day around I am asking any of our adopters to post their favorite pictures of cats adopted from us in the comments!! PLEASE!! It really helps my mental state. Smudge is adjusting here really well and approaching me now and allows petting!! We are getting closer to adoptable status!!

We are sad to report we sent Kiouni over the rainbow bridge. It was the kindest thing to do per the emergency room veterinarian. He had complications from dental surgery which has risks. He was suffering and no cat deserves that. Goodbye Kiouni. You mattered.

I decided to take Kiouni to the ER today based on his labored breathing. I am not sure what the outcome will be. Please pray and donate so we can continue to take our cats for the veterinary care they need !!

A bit more positive news. Mickey loves the special urinary diet food and readily goes into the cage at feeding tome to ensure that is what he eats now to avoid future blockage🙏🙏. He is urinating a little better now too.

I am stressing. Kiouni is still fighting for his life with the pneumonia. I am getting his meds in but he is not eating and he will not take the syringe. I cannot blame him, he had 8 teeth pulled. I feel bad, he was losing weight due to dental disease so it seemed the right thing to do to get his dental done and instead he is now sicker from the surgery. Sammy is not doing well even on tons of meds, fluids and syringe feeding him high calorie food. We are waiting on the results of the PCR test but he came in with anemia, no doubt caused by inadequate nutrition being locked up in a house of horrors for many weeks. I am trying so hard and feel I am not getting anywhere. Irma now has her feeding tube in her neck. I am getting used to feeding her that way and getting 4 meals a day in her that way. I am also doing fluids to support her and antibiotics although she has no outer symptoms of any disease except for the lipidosis. It is the perfect storm right now. I try to remind myself that Kiouni would not have survived on the streets anyway since he is FIV positive and he has lived with us 3 years here with no previous issues. Sammy was just a sad story because it seemed no agency, whether police or animal control gave a crap about a cat being locked in a house and having been without food or water for a period of 6 days until the neighbors smelled a strong enough odor indicating a human had been dead in the house. After that the police just threw food in the house and no one came back for him until a neighbor heard meowing and realized the cat was in the sealed house! I so want him to be okay !! Irma was a victim of a person going to a nursing home where no pets are allowed but I always wonder if that person could have tried a little harder to find a nursing home where they do allow pets. Irma was morbidly obese when she came to us, could barely walk, and the life expectancy is lower than cats with a normal weight but moving to a different environment at the age of 11 is also a stressor and with obese cats this can become lethal fast.

I am very frustrated. We are depleting a lot of our funds with high vet bills and the outcomes may not be what we hope for.

Most of our cats are happy and healthy here. Damien, who was found and trapped here on the property when we first moved here has been here 6 years and is now officially one of our senior cats. He was super feral and bit me twice and almost sent me to the hospital the first year but now he is a large lap cat! I am trying hard to stay positive.

Let me give some positive updates too this weekend. Starting with Bonnie, the 18 year old cat with stage 2 kidney disease. Confident cats always adjust so well. She can go out of her cage that she was in the first week but after venturing out on the patio a bit, she always returns to the cage for a nap and to get her food. That works for us. She is declawed with some eye issues but she is not bothered by anything. We will hope she stays with us for an extended period of time. She is a bit grumpy but calming down more.

It has been a roller coaster this month!! Vet bills are astronomical please DONATE!! I am super tired but feeling better. At the vet AGAIN with Irma. Irma has hepatic lipidosis and stopped eating today, so feeding tube it is. I am going to learn to do this for the first time today. She resists any medication or food by syringe so we are out of options. If this does not work, then there are other underlying conditions that are affecting her red blood cell count that are potentially deadly, she is 11 years old. Sammy is a little better now but still not good, he is about 8-10 years old. Kiouni is breathing better from his pneumonia from dental surgery complications that is severe. I see him get up and use the litter box and drink water at night on the camera. He is easy to medicate and feed with a syringe as well as administering sub cue fluids. It seems like the perfect storm this month. We are kindly asking for donations!!
