On Saturday at the NicerFL center in Sarasota, we had a wonderful session with our Ukrainian refugee support group. We started with an English conversation class, where students and mentors enjoyed practicing together. At the end, Vira gave a lovely presentation about the Ukrainian holiday "Vyshyvanka," and all the women wore beautiful embroidered blouses and showed their handmade embroidery. We finished the day with snacks, good conversations, and a warm feeling of connection and support for everyone.

We are having an Easter picnic on April 12 at South Lido park for the Ukrainian refugee community in Sarasota and Bradenton. We hope to bring people together, celebrate culture and enjoy Ukrainian music and Food! All our current and former programs participants are invited- students and volunteers of NicerFL!

I met and participated in a session with 5 fellows from grassroots nonprofit immigrant organizations! Amazing people driven by the passion to help the new members of our communities!

The Hello Neighbor Network, powered by Hello Neighbor, is a coalition of grassroots organizations working in post-refugee and immigrant resettlement in the U.S. that comes together to grow and inspire change.

What does Executive Order “Realigning the United States Refugee Admissions
Program” do?
The executive order stops all refugee admissions
puts a pause on overseas processes that have already taken years indefinitely delays family reunifications
And blocks any new applications or referrals from being filed with the refugee program.

A great resource for newcomers from our partner organization RAMWI. We partner to support new refugees and other immigrants as part of Tampa Bay Refugee Task Force. Please share with new immigrants in Tampa looking to prepare for a new job here.

RAMWI Workforce Readiness Program

This program offers an incredible opportunity for refugee women to enhance their skills, prepare for the workforce, and take the next steps toward personal and professional growth...and is absolutely free for the participant.

What they will learn:

Workforce culture in the United States and employer expectations
Goal setting, planning, and identifying certifications needed
Building a resume and completing a job application
Professional development and education opportunities
Leveraging existing opportunities offered by CareerSource and other existing programs
Dressing for interviews and practicing through mock interviews
Dates and Location: Attendees must attend both sessions to receive a certificate.
