🚨 H5N1 Bird Flu: A Cruel and Growing Crisis 🚨

In January 2025, the H5N1 bird flu outbreak struck 47 dairy farms and multiple chicken farms in California, leaving devastation in its wake. This zoonotic disease is not only a public health threat but also a tragedy for the millions of birds caught in the crossfire.

The Reality for Birds Used in Farming:
“Poultry”—chickens, ducks, and other farmed birds—are treated as mere commodities. They receive little to no protection under the law and almost never receive medical care. When outbreaks like H5N1 occur, the response is almost always mass killing, using methods that can be cruel and inhumane:
❌ Ventilation Shutdown: Birds are sealed in barns, ventilation turned off, causing them to slowly die from heat and suffocation.

💸 Meanwhile, $44 million in taxpayer money has been paid to poultry corporations as compensation for bird deaths, while millions of innocent animals suffer.

The real cost of these outbreaks isn’t just in dollars—it’s in the lives of animals who deserve better than a system of neglect and mass suffering.

💔 We must demand humane solutions that protect both animals and humans.

Shame on the Padres, PETCO Park, Mayor Todd Gloria, and the San Diego City Council for allowing this cruel rodeo event to happen again.

We will not stand by while innocent animals suffer for entertainment. Join us as we protest outside the entrance to the rodeo:

Animals used in rodeos endure horrific abuse and often suffer fatal injuries—broken necks, backs, heart attacks, or aneurysms. Those who survive face relentless exploitation, being trucked from one event to the next with no rest. When they can no longer perform, many are sent to slaughterhouses.

There is nothing kind about rodeos—they are extreme animal cruelty. Let’s raise our voices for the victims who cannot speak for themselves.
