Proposed Transmission Line & SDG&E Meeting Updates:

Save Palomar Mountain team recently met with SDG&E leadership to get the latest details on the proposed 500kV transmission line project running between the existing Imperial Valley Substation and the border of San Diego and Orange Counties (Golden Pacific Powerlink Project). Here is what you need to know:

1. Route Status: Palomar Mountain

We expect SDG&E to release their preferred route for the transmission line in upcoming public meetings and, going forward, to focus primarily on that path. It is our hope and expectation it will not be Palomar Mountain, but we want to continue to prepare to respond in any event.

2. Mark Your Calendars: Upcoming Meetings

Virtual Forums: SDG&E will host four virtual sessions in late April and early May (two at 12:00 PM and two at 5:00 PM). They will be announced here.

In-Person Sessions: Additional community meetings will be held at a centralized location this summer. They will be announced here.

PMPO Meeting (May 23): Please plan to join us at the Pancake Breakfast/PMPO Meeting on May 23rd where SDG&E’s Director of Project Development and engineering staff will be present to share updates and answer your technical questions.

Did you know that Palomar Mountain State Park has over 500 confirmed species of plants and animals on iNaturalist?

Now YOU can help US get those numbers up!

On Saturday, September 13th, from 10 AM to 12 PM we will be hosting a BIOBLITZ using the iNaturalist app. Meet at the Doane Pond parking lot. Bring water, wear a hat and sturdy shoes, and make sure your phone or camera has plenty of battery charge and memory for photos.

The BIOBLITZ will be going all week leading up to our event, too. Starting on September 6th to September 14th, your observations can be added to the "2025 CA Biodiversity Week BIOBLITZ @ Palomar Mountain State Park" project on iNaturalist. So if you can't make it to the BLITZ on September 13th, you still have a chance to contribute to our project.

In celebration of California Biodiversity Week, come with us as we explore the park in search of late summer plants and animals!

We'll be photographing and documenting the flora and fauna of Doane Pond and surrounding trails.

If you don't have the iNaturalist app on your phone, you can submit photos online through the iNaturalist website. You will need to create a profile in order to upload your photos.

Not sure how to work iNaturalist? No problem! We'll be there to help guide you through the process and provide instructions for how to use the basic functions of the app.
