Celebrate the magic of spring migration at Middle Creek on World Migratory Bird Day!

This family friendly event held on Saturday, May 9, highlights the incredible journeys birds make across the globe.

This year’s theme — “Every Bird Counts: Your Observations Matter” — highlights how your sightings and participation help biologists better understand and protect migratory species.

Interactive and hands on activities? You betcha!

Live bird banding demonstrations
Guided bird walks
Conservation partners
Habitat hayrides and MORE!

Whether you’re a lifelong birder or just curious about the birds that call PA home, your observations truly make a difference.

This outdoor event takes place at Middle Creek Visitors Center, 100 Museum Road, Stevens. The event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is FREE and open to all ages.

We will have Holy Smoked Meats LLC food truck on site AND PA Dairymen's Association Farm Show milkshakes, too!

Come celebrate the birds that connect continents — and learn how you can help conservation take flight. We look forward to seeing you at Middle Creek!

Our next QAS field trip is coming up on Sunday 2/15/2026. See the information below and please contact the trip leader listed with any questions.

Sunday, February 15 – Union Canal Tunnel Park
Observation of flora and fauna (including counting birds for the 29th annual “Great Backyard Bird Count”).
Meet 2 PM at the park’s 25th Street parking lot.
Leader Fritz Heilman (717-273-0487)

Please note the following from trip leader Fritz Heilman:
Note we meet 2 pm at 25th street parking lot, however the lot is currently not the best option for parking due to the snow pack - if attending I suggest parking either along 24th street or Mifflin Street, but NOT Guilford as Guilford has more issues with the still present snows - I plan to be at the park’s entrance to direct anyone attending to park at the above locations…Fritz

Also, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is happening now (2/13 through 2/16)! Anyone can participate in the GBBC, just check details on their website.

Each year people from around the world come together to watch, learn about, count, and celebrate birds. Join us in February!

Due to the uncertainty of the weather over the next few days and in the interest of the safely of everyone involved, we have decided to cancel this Wednesday's (1/28/2026) program (Birding Pennsylvania’s State Parks by Chris Kemmerer).

We are tentatively rescheduling the program for 2/25/2026, pending confirmation from the speaker.

Stay warm, stay safe, and keep your bird feeders filled!
