There are over 400 sign languages spoken around the world, and most have little to no Scripture available. An estimated 70 million Deaf people communicate primarily through sign language, yet the vast majority have never encountered God's Word in their heart language.
Sign language isn't just translated spoken language. It's a complete, distinct language with its own grammar, syntax, and culture.
For Deaf communities, signed Scripture isn't a nice option. It's essential. Many deaf people around the world can’t read or live in oral-first cultures where there’s no written language.
Translation work is underway in some sign languages, but the need far outweighs the resources available. Many Deaf communities are still waiting for their first encounter with Scripture in a form they can fully understand.
Will you pray with us for sign language Bible translation?
Pray for translators working to bring Scripture to Deaf communities. Pray for resources, partnerships, and breakthrough. Pray that Deaf believers worldwide would soon have access to God's Word in the language of their hearts.
They've been waiting long enough. Let's bring them the Word.
