🐕 Did you know a dog helped build the Palmer Lake Star?

In the 1930s, Dizzy — a German Shepherd — carried supplies up Sundance Mountain during the Star's construction, becoming a local legend. His bronze statue still stands in Village Green today.

The Star has always been a community effort — four-legged ones included.

On Tuesday July 14th Brush 2042 deployed with 3 firefighters including a Peyton Fire Dept firefighter to the P-L Gulch fire outside of R***e CO. Our crew will be deployed for a 2 week assignment. It’s a busy season and PLFD is continuing to support while keeping fully staffed in Palmer Lake.

Brush truck 2042 arrived back safely from deployment on Monday July 13th. The crew was assigned to night ops and had a successful deployment to the Gold Mountain Fire outside Ouray CO. The fire is currently 37k acres and at 12% containment.
