What makes us happy?

Knowing these little Maligators will never have to grow up in a homeless encampment in the desert, baking in triple-digit heat, treated like dollar signs waiting for someone to make a quick buck.

Knowing they won’t spend their puppyhood without air conditioning, proper veterinary care, good nutrition, or people putting their needs first.

Knowing their future won’t be determined by whoever shows up with cash in hand.

Instead, they’ll be vaccinated, loved, socialized, and carefully placed into homes that understand the commitment a Belgian Malinois requires.

These puppies didn’t ask to be born. But because people came together to get them out, they now have a chance at the life every puppy deserves.

That’s what makes us happy. 🩷

We know many of you are eager to see more photos and videos of the puppies. Right now, our focus is on keeping them alive and healthy. Losing a puppy is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile they are at this age, especially when Mom has refused to care for them since about 3 weeks old.

Once we’re confident they’re out of the danger zone and thriving, we’ll be sharing a lot more of their journey with all of you.

ROO'S NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT !!

We are beyond excited—and deeply humbled—to share that our sweet Roo is making her national television debut!

This Monday night, June 8 at 9:30 PM ET, Roo will be featured on the 2026 Stanley Pup on truTV and HBO Max in a special adoption appeal filmed prior to the broadcast.

This moment is so much bigger than Roo. It's for every rescue dog still waiting, hoping, and dreaming of a family of their own.

🩷 We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Brooke Shields for using her voice and platform to shine a light on rescue dogs. The fact that she took the time to help tell Roo's story and support rescue organizations like ours means more than words can express. Her kindness, compassion, and willingness to advocate for homeless animals has and will continue to help save lives. Mama Riven’s Story: Why Spaying Matters

The photo we chose for our 50 Spays in 50 Days campaign isn’t just a picture of a dog. It’s a picture of suffering that never should have happened.

Mama Riven was dumped in Thermal and left to fend for herself. She was terrified of people and nearly impossible to catch. Time after time, other hungry dogs would enter our traps before she would. We watched from a distance, knowing she needed help but unable to reach her.

Then she became pregnant.

Alone, scared, underweight, covered in ticks, and struggling to survive, she gave birth in someone’s yard. Her body was exhausted, and her puppies never had a fair chance.

Out of nine puppies, only two survived.

A tiny white puppy named Stormy and a little tan puppy named Sir Clause, with the cutest ears, are the only survivors from Mama Riven’s litter. Seven precious lives were lost before they ever had the opportunity to experience love, safety, or a family of their own.

The heartbreaking truth is that this could have been prevented.

If Mama Riven had been spayed before being abandoned, there would have been no suffering pregnancy, no sick newborn puppies, and no seven tiny lives lost. This is why our spay and neuter efforts matter so much. Every dog we alter prevents future suffering before it begins.

Today, Mama Riven looks like a completely different dog. She’s healthy, safe, loved, and living the life every dog deserves. But we’ll never forget the seven puppies who didn’t make it.

Sadly, Mama Riven’s story is not unique. It’s one of many stories we see every year. That’s why we’re fighting so hard to spay and neuter. Every surgery prevents future suffering, homelessness, and heartbreak.

This is why we do what we do. 🩷

A few months ago, we learned about Mama Lucy, a full-term pregnant stray running the streets. A kind person began feeding her and reached out for help. We were able to safely trap her, and shortly afterward, Lucy gave birth to her beautiful puppies.

Today, we received this message from Shoresy’s family (formerly Nelson), and it absolutely made our day.

“Hi! We adopted one of Lucy's puppies named Nelson (now Shoresy) from Barks of Love. I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for saving him and his Mama and siblings. He's 16 weeks old now, 30 Ibs and thriving. We adore him and can't wait for all the adventures he'll be joining us on. He has 2 pug brothers now, goes to the hockey rink weekly with his human brothers and loves cheese. 😄 He's a great traveler, super smart and looks a lot like his Mama.” 🩷

When we rescue dogs, we don’t always get to see how their stories end. But every once in a while, we receive an update like this that reminds us why the long days, sleepless nights, and endless challenges are worth it.

We are incredibly grateful to Barks of Love Animal Rescue for welcoming Shoresy into their program once he was old enough to leave his mama and helping him find the perfect family. Rescue truly takes a village, and we’re so thankful they played such an important role in giving him the wonderful life he has today.

Thank you to everyone who supports rescue, fosters, adopts, donates, shares our posts, and believes in second chances. Because of you, puppies like Shoresy get the happy ending they deserve. 🙏🏻

💔 FOSTERS NEEDED 💔

Toby and Blue have officially been abandoned.

A neighbor found them after their owner left them behind. Confused, scared, and unsure of what was happening, they huddled together waiting for someone to come back for them. No one did.

Can you open your home and your heart to one of them—or even both? Fostering saves lives and gives dogs like Toby and Blue a chance to decompress, heal, and learn that not all humans leave.

🎉 SABER IS OFFICIALLY ADOPTED FOREVER! 🎉

Now known as Finnegan, this sweet boy has found exactly where he was always meant to be. 🩷

A note from his new mom:

"Finnegan is my first dog, the best boy, and brings me more joy than I thought possible. He is living his best life with three beds, a yard, three new cat siblings, and new doggie friends in our complex. Everyone who meets him loves him. He came into my life after the death of my mom, and while Rescue Lyfe may have saved him, he has definitely saved me."

Stories like this are why we do what we do.

When we trapped Saber, we hoped we could give him a second chance. What we didn't know was that he would end up helping heal a heart that was grieving and bring so much love and happiness into someone's life.

This is what rescue is all about. Not just saving dogs, but creating the kind of connections that change lives—both human and canine.

Congratulations, Finnegan. We are so happy for you and your new family. 🩷🐾

Teddy attended a social event today at the Tiny Pony and he would like everyone to know he was there for the snacks, not the networking.

Meeting new dogs? He's still deciding if that's really necessary.

Meeting new men? He's got a longer screening process than most dating apps.

Treats? Approved immediately.

Teddy is an amazing dog, but sometimes the world can feel a little too big and a little too loud. Between the crowds, noise, and constant activity, he became overwhelmed, so we decided it was best to let him watch everyone from the comfort of his kennel.

And that’s okay.

You have to remember where Teddy came from. Before Rescue Lyfe, he spent his days alone in a backyard, desperately trying to find shade from the desert heat. The world wasn't always kind to him, and experiences like that can leave a lasting impact.

Dogs are a lot like people. Some thrive in busy social settings, while others need a little more time to feel comfortable and safe. Teddy would much rather spend time with his family than work a crowd.

Teddy is making progress every day, and underneath his selective social calendar is one of the sweetest boys you’ll ever meet. He’s goofy, lovable, and always happy to see his people. And if we’re being completely honest, food is probably his second greatest love language.

We’re determined to find the person who sees what we see—a truly special dog.
