☀️ In 2018 the Lift to Rise coalition announced a goal to create 10,000 new affordable homes in the Coachella Valley by 2028.

Now we're on track to reach the finish line—and our 2026-2028 Action Plan lays out exactly how we’re going to get there!

Just like everything else we do, creating the Action Plan was a team effort across coalition members, organizational partners, community members, political officials, and everyone in between 🤝

Some brought personal stories of housing instability and homelessness. Others brought local research, policy expertise, and years of experience working in the region.

Together, those perspectives helped us build a plan that reflects what our communities need and the evidence-backed solutions that'll help us make it happen 💪

🙌 Our first regional This Ought to Be a Law event was amazing!

It was great getting to see our CBC members connect with fellow RUN members as we gear up to advocate for Prop 1 (more on that soon!)

In case you didn’t know:

➡️ Lift to Rise’s CBC initiative trains Coachella Valley residents to organize and advocate for affordable housing in their communities.

➡️ And Housing California's Resident United Network (RUN) connects resident leaders across California to advance affordable housing, renter protection, and homelessness prevention.

Real change happens when residents help shape the solutions that will impact their communities.

That’s why we’re honored to help train up resident leaders across the region, and we’re looking forward to creating even more ways for CBC members to move from local organizing to statewide collaboration and collective action 💪

Meet our newest team members👋

☀️Sarah brings expertise in grant writing and management, with deep experience serving minority communities in a nonprofit setting nationwide.

She’s passionate about uplifting people of all backgrounds and centering community as the greatest means for long-term impact.

She’ll help build Lift to Rise’s grant infrastructure and bring in more support for our work.

☀️Bryan is a lifetime Inland Empire resident an experienced community organizer.

He’ll help Lift to Rise build relationships with organizations and community leaders across West Riverside County who share our goal of creating a region where everyone can thrive!

As Ian Gabriel, a longtime leader at our organization, officially steps into the role as Executive Director, we’re also launching our 2026-2028 Action Plan—the roadmap that will guide our coalition for the next two years!

Every Action Plan brings residents, partners, and local leaders together around shared goals, policy priorities, and strategies we’ll use to create more affordable affordable homes across the Coachella Valley and beyond.☀️

Now as we’re racing toward our 10-year goal of creating 10,000 new affordable homes by 2028, this Action Plan is especially exciting!

To us, it’s just common sense: If you want to do good in the community, start by talking with the community☀️

From day one, our Action Plans have been rooted in local input, which is how we know affordable housing is one of the top issues on people’s minds across the county.

🏠And that’s why so much of our work is meant to create more affordable homes where they’re needed most. The community told us, and we listened.
