Why has the state of California stepped into local planning to encourage more homes?

Join the Pacifica Resource Center, the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County, and Partnership for the Bay's Future for Why State Housing Law Exists: A Discussion, part of our educational workshop series on housing.

When: Wednesday, October 21, 6:00 to 7:30 PM
Where: Pedro Point Firehouse, 1227 Danmann Ave, Pacifica, CA 94044

You’ll learn why California has stepped into local planning to encourage more homes, where state housing law came from, how it impacts Pacifica, and what’s coming next.

Please note: this is an educational and advocacy workshop, not a housing search or placement service. It is not a place to apply for housing, rental assistance, or individual case help. If you need help getting connected with housing resources, the Pacifica Resource Center team is here for you. Food and refreshments will be provided, and child supervision will be available for families.

The first 10 people to register will receive a $25 gift card, given out at the end of the workshop to those who attend in person and stay for the entire event. We’ll email you to let you know whether you’re one of the first 10.

PRC’s Thanksgiving Program provides Pacifica families with holiday groceries and a gift card to purchase additional festive food items.

Holiday Joy Program
PRC’s Holiday Joy Program matches families we serve with sponsors (individuals and/or organizations) who purchase gifts and/or gift cards to help create a more joyful holiday season. By connecting our PRC families with those who wish to give, PRC ensures that the holiday season becomes a time of giving, joy, and hope.

Our Palm-a-Palooza Homecoming brought the community together for a night to remember. Together, we raised more than $120,000, with more still coming in, making this our biggest Palm-a-Palooza ever. Every one of those dollars helps Pacifica Resource Center support the resilience and well-being of families and individuals in Pacifica and along the San Mateo County coast. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made it possible.

🏆 A special shout-out to our Spirit Award winners, the team from HOPE: Healing, Overdose Prevention, and Education, whose standout costumes and neighborly support for PRC captured the true spirit of the night! Palm-a-Palooza is a reminder that we're a network of neighbors who show up for one another, and our community is stronger for it.

PRC is joining the community at the Third Annual HOPE Walk, hosted by HOPE: Healing, Overdose Prevention, and Education right here in Pacifica.

📍 Vallemar Elementary School, 377 Reina Del Mar, Pacifica

The day includes a memorial walk, Narcan training and distribution, personal testimonials, overdose and prevention education, and community resource tables.

Stop by our table to learn about everything PRC offers our coastal neighbors. We'll have flyers on all of our services, RED cards, CalFresh info, and details on how we serve as San Mateo County's Core Service Agency. Whether you need support or know someone who does, come say hello.

Walk with HOPE, learn something that could save a life, and stand with the families this day honors.

You don't need any background in housing, policy, or advocacy. You just need to care. 🍕 Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
