More than 170 athletes have been honored in the fields of athletics, coaching, media and administrative/official.

Dear Sports Enthusiast:

It's time again, asking for your support for the Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame.

The Pacifica Sports Club, sponsor of the Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame, is celebrating its 42nd year. Over the years the PSC has honored over 500 athletes as a "Breakfast of Champions" recipient and inducted over 174 athletes into the Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame. Additionally, the PSC is a sponsor of a scholarship fund for Terra Nova-Oceana High School.

It's that time of the year again where we ask for your support. As the Pacifica Sports Club starts another year, we begin our drive for membership dues in our effort to promote Pacifica Sports.

The organization operates completely through membership dues. The dues are $35 per family annually. The dues cover the period July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. To submit your dues for this year please make your check payable to Pacifica Sports Club and mail to Pacifica Sports Club, PO Box 626, Pacifica CA 94044. (Don't forget to include your name, mailing address and email address!)

Or, if you don't want to write a check and if you have a Venmo account, simply log in, enter and pay your dues.

Over the years perhaps you've had a family member, or a friend, who has been inducted into the Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame. Your support has never been more important. The PSHOF will continue as long as have financial support. If you can provide financial assistance through payment of your membership dues, or even additional donations, it will be greatly appreciated.

This year's induction ceremony will be held Saturday, February 27, 2027 at the Grosvenor Hotel in South San Francisco. This year's induction ceremony marks our 35th annual Sports Hall of Fame ceremony. I hope you'll be able to join us for this event.

2026 Breakfast of Champions

For 42 years the Pacifica Sports Club has been promoting Pacifica sports programs and local athletes.

This year’s “Breakfast of Champions” student-athlete honorees were selected by the principal and athletic director of the respective schools, Terra Nova, Oceana and Pacific Bay Christian School, for their performance on the school’s varsity team for the 2025-2026 school year.

Students who attend an out-of-town high school also had the opportunity to be nominated by their respective coaches; however, they must live in Pacifica and be a member of the school’s varsity team.

Did you have a sports moment last year? Tell the Pacifica Sports Club all about it!

Did you accomplish a special sports feat this year, or know someone who did? If so, you may be eligible for the Pacifica Sports Club “breakfast of champions” award this year.

The PSC will host an award breakfast for selected individuals on Saturday, May 9 at the Pacifica Moose Lodge. The program begins at 9 a.m.

Individuals interested in being considered should send a nomination letter, accompanied by supporting documents, i.e., newspaper clippings, video clips, etc. The letter should include a telephone number and/or email address of both the person submitting the nomination and the name of the nominee. There is no age limit. A person can also nominate him or herself.

The sport feat must have occurred between July 1, 2025 and April 1, 2026. Nomination letter must be received no later than April 24. Send nomination letter to Pacifica Sports Club, P O Box 626, Pacifica CA 94044 or email to [email protected].

The nominations will be reviewed and selected by members of the Board of Directors for the Pacifica Sports Club. Additional information concerning the “breakfast of champions” awards program can be obtained by calling 650-455-7392.

At the breakfast, the selected individuals will join student-athletes as selected by principals and athletic directors at Terra Nova, Oceana and Pacific Bay Christian School for their outstanding performance this school year.

The Pacifica Sports Club has been hosting the “breakfast of champions” program to honor community athletes for 42 years.

Legendary Hall of Fame Coach Returns Home

In 2015, after 45 years coaching high school sports for Pacifica’s two high schools, Bill Gray retired and moved to South Dakota.

Hired to coach at Oceana High School in 1970, he led his teams to multiple wrestling championships and several football league titles, including the 1987 Central Coast Section title. Moving to Terra Nova in 1991 when Oceana restructured its academic program, he continued to win football titles, including the 2010 CCS championship, while also serving as the school’s athletic director. At the time of his retirement, he was the third winningest coach in CCS history with 256 career wins.

Gray didn’t stop coaching when he moved to South Dakota. His coaching record preceded him. It wasn’t long before he was asked to be an assistant coach with a local high school. He recently completed his 10th year.

The legendary coach was inducted into the inaugural Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame in 1991. He returns to Pacifica next week to be the Master of Ceremonies for the 35th annual ceremony to welcome three new members.

Sponsored by the Pacifica Sports Club, the PSHOF honors individuals who have brought lasting fame and recognition to Pacifica through athletics over the past 70 years.

Being honored are Oceana graduate Richard Goodwin, a three-time All-American wrestling champion at San Francisco State University. Jessica Parque, a four-year soccer player for Division 1 University of California at Santa Barbara and Tim Adams, a Terra Nova championship football coach with a 2014 Central Coast Section title on his resume will also be anointed.

At SFSU, Goodwin recorded 132 career wins, captured two conference championships and earned a Western Region championship. Years later, he became a world-class champion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. His achievements include being a seven-time International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation world champion.

Jessica Parque, an elite soccer player, overcame a youth life-threatening internal injury while competing, prior to joining the University of California Santa Barbara on a soccer scholarship. Over her four-year career she became known for scoring several last-minute winning goals for her team.

Tim Adams coached at Terra Nova for 11 years, leading his team to the 2014 CCS championship. In 2010, as offensive coordinator he helped the school win its third CCS title. He’s the only coach in the school’s 65-year history to reach four CCS championship games.

An enshrinement dinner in the honor of the three athletes will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Grosvenor Hotel in South San Francisco. The event is open to the public. Contact Horace Hinshaw at [email protected] or at 650.455.7392 for tickets ($85). NO tickets sold at the door.

At next Monday’s Pacifica City Council meeting, council will honor this year’s Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame Class inductees by proclaiming the week of Feb. 23-29 as “Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame Week”.

Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame class of 2026 announced!
Three new members will be enshrined into the City of Pacifica Sports Hall of Fame this year, joining 170 Pacificans who have been previously honored.
This year’s honorees are a championship football coach, a three-time All-American wrestler and a Division 1 collegiate soccer athlete. The three honorees will be inducted into the PSHOF at an awards ceremony February 28, 2026, at the Grosvenor Hotel in South San Francisco.
The awards dinner is open to the public. A no-host reception begins at 5 p.m. with dinner and program to follow at 6 p.m. Tickets are $85 per person or $850 for a table of 10. Tickets can be obtained by calling 650-455-7392 or email Pacifica Sports Club President Horace Hinshaw at [email protected].

Meet 2026 Inductee Richard Goodwin

Following his graduation from Oceana High School in 1985, Goodwin continued his wrestling career at San Francisco State University where he was a three-time NCAA All-American. Over four years, he recorded 132 career wins, captured two conference championships and earned a Western Region championship. He also established himself as a world-class competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

As owner of New Creation Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu in Benicia, he has trained athletes of all ages while competing at the highest international levels. His achievements include becoming a seven-time International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation World Champion and 10-time World finalist, accomplishments that place him among the elite practitioners of the sport worldwide.

Meet 2026 Inductee Jessica Parque

The 2015 Norte Dame at Belmont graduate began her sports journey as a multi-sport athlete in Pacifica where she thrived in multi-youth sports. In high school, Parque excelled at soccer and softball, winning various awards, but it was soccer that drew the attention of the University of California at Santa Barbara. She competed in the National Premier League, helping Juventus Soccer Club win multiple state championships. Unfortunately, she suffered a life-threatening internal injury while competing. Through perseverance and determination, she returned to soccer and continued her sport journey and education as a student-athlete at UCSB. Earning an athletic scholarship, she played four years with the Gauchos. A highlight of her career was scoring winning goals against the University of Texas, Sacramento State and Cal Poly.

Meet 2026 Inductee Tim Adams

Adams got his first taste of football with the Pop Warner program as a youngster growing up in Pacifica. Years later, the Serra High School graduate returned to Pacifica as a high school football coach. He coached Terra Nova High School for 11 years (2008-2018) as head coach, assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. In 2010, as offensive coordinator, he helped lead the team to their third Central Coast Section championship. In 2014, as head coach and offensive coordinator, he led the Tigers to their fourth CCS championship. He is the only Terra Nova football coach in the school’s 65-year history to guide Terra Nova football teams and coach in four CCS championship games. Today, he is a physical education teacher at Terra Nova.
