Your Experience Matters.

Whether you’re still turning wrenches every day or enjoying retirement, the knowledge and skills you’ve built over the years are valuable and they can help keep aircraft mission-ready for the communities we serve. The Wiregrass Aviation Support Program is looking for volunteer A&P mechanics who want to stay involved, give back, and be part of a team supporting law enforcement and first responders across the Wiregrass region.

If you have experience working on OH-58 aircraft or the Bell 407, that expertise would be especially appreciated. But most importantly, we’re looking for dependable folks who take pride in their craft and want to make a difference.

- Retired mechanics welcome
- Flexible volunteer opportunities
- Real impact supporting public safety

If you’re interested in lending a hand or getting back around the aircraft again, send us a message.
There’s always room on the crew for skilled hands.

Happy Easter from the Wiregrass Aviation Support Program!

ALEA 22 had a great time spreading some Easter cheer from above with our Easter egg drops for the community. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve and share a few smiles along the way.

Special thanks to those who shared the great videos — Darby Thompson Stitt, Kevin Turley, and Jacie Jordan — and thank you to everyone who participated in each of the events and helped make them such a success.

Wishing everyone across the Wiregrass a safe, joyful, and blessed Easter!

One of our Part 107-certified UAS operators recently assisted law enforcement partners during a narcotics investigation in Eufaula, working alongside a Dale County investigator as part of a coordinated UAS team. Together, they provided aerial support that helped track this suspect until he was safely detained.

Operations like this highlight the growing value of unmanned aircraft in modern public safety. By providing aerial coverage, our drone capability allows officers and investigators on the ground to maintain situational awareness, improve coordination, and resolve incidents more safely and efficiently.

We are proud to support our partners and stand alongside the agencies of the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force and Henry County Sheriff’s Office as they work to remove dangerous drugs from our communities. Strong partnerships, shared resources, and teamwork truly make us all stronger.

On April 1, 2026, agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) Region B, Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force (ADETF), executed a search warrant in Eufaula, Alabama, as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Seized narcotics include approximately 557 grams of Amphetamine Pills, approximately 189 grams of Opioid Pills, approximately 7 pounds of Ma*****na, approximately 2 pounds of Synthetic Cannabinoids, Precursor Chemicals, $64,120 in US Currency, and 4 fi****ms.

As a result of the operation, Johnrecis Jones, 35, of Eufaula, was arrested and charged with three counts of Drug Trafficking, one count of Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.

Shavannah Moreland, 36, of Eufaula, was arrested and charged with two counts of Drug Trafficking and one count of Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree.

Both individuals are currently being held in the Eufaula City Jail without bond.

The Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force (ADETF) is comprised of officers from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Eufaula Police Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Geneva Police Department, along with agents from the ALEA State Bureau of Investigation.

This investigation remains ongoing.

“I want to commend the hard work of the Henry County Task Force Investigators who are attached to the ADETF, their hard work took a lot of dangerous drugs off our street. All agencies being able to come together to work as one is a force multiplier and great for our communities.” - Sheriff Eric Blankenship

Please join us in congratulating the Wiregrass Aviation Support Program (WASP) on taking delivery of a beautiful new Airbus aircraft, capable of providing high-altitude surveillance across the entire region!

This impressive addition to the fleet was made possible thanks to a very generous anonymous donor from the local area who apparently found some spare change in the couch cushions. With this new aircraft, we’re proud to announce we can now monitor traffic jams from 40,000 feet, spot lost lawnmowers three counties away, and keep an even closer eye on the Wiregrass than ever before.

All jokes aside — we appreciate the continued support from our community and partner agencies that help keep our real aircraft in the sky serving Southeast Alabama every day.

Happy April Fools’ Day from your friends at WASP!

Hear that helicopter overhead? That’s just ALEA 24 doing what we do best — keeping an eye on things and helping keep the Wiregrass safe.

Our mechanics are truly invaluable to the Wiregrass Aviation Support Program. They volunteer their time, skills, and experience to keep our aircraft mission-ready and our crews safe. Behind every successful flight is a dedicated mechanic who gave up their personal time to make it possible. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment, professionalism, and unwavering support of public safety across the Wiregrass.
Simply put — we couldn’t do this without them.
