Hurricane Response
Immediately following the passage of Hurricane Isaias, the Wiregrass Aviation Support Program launched aircraft to assist local power companies in identifying and reporting downed high-voltage power lines and damaged electrical infrastructure. With thousands of Wiregrass residents left without power, our volunteer flight crews took to the skies early that morning and continued flying until late that evening, covering Hartford, Slocomb, Geneva, Wicksburg, Dothan, Eufaula, and communities throughout Geneva, Houston, and Henry Counties, along with numerous small towns in between. By providing an aerial perspective, our crews helped power companies pinpoint problem areas and prioritize restoration efforts, ultimately helping get the lights back on for our communities. From early morning until late evening, our volunteers remained committed to helping the communities we proudly serve. When disaster strikes, WASP is prepared to answer the call!
