Beverly’s Hearty Slice was created by Travis Owsley to honor his mother, Beverly Slaughter. Beverly loved to provide free food in her community when she had the opportunity to make big meals. After Beverly's passing in 2018, Travis wanted to continue his mother's tradition and from that Beverly's Hearty Slice was born. NEVER in a million years did we ever think that serving a slice of 🍕 and bottled waters under the Kendall-Perkins Park shed during the pandemic would turn into something extraordinary. All GLORY to GOD for guiding us these past (6) years and blessing us with an supportive community, generous donors, selfless volunteers, and dedicated Board members who put others before themselves, sacrificing precious family time to serve families in need. It was our privilege on behalf of Kentucky Wesleyan College Beverly's Hearty Slice to play a pivotal role in an extraordinary surprise for an ardent Kentucky Wesleyan College Men's and Women's basketball enthusiast. About two months ago, the family reached out with a heartfelt request to arrange for the Mascot's presence at the birthday celebration and secure season tickets for home games. Unbeknownst to him, his Son planned a remarkable surprise by flying in from Germany for his 90th birthday, wearing the Mascot costume for the big reveal. This gesture resonated deeply with both the family and our Coaching staff and board members, filling our hearts with joy and admiration. Beverlys Hearty Slice was delighted to contribute Little Caesars pizza to this momentous occasion. Thank you for your unwavering dedication, support, and love for the Panthers.
