Once a seahorse haven, the IRL is now choked by pollutants. Sewage sludge, excess nutrients, and toxins have wiped out the crucial seagrass habitat, starving and displacing these unique fish. We lost them when we lost the grass.

The seahorses are a tragic signal. They thrived in healthy seagrass. Now, the overwhelming load of sewage and nutrient pollution has smothered their habitat. Their disappearance is a clear sign the lagoon is desperately sick.

Bringing awareness back to PFAS contamination, especially now. The EPA's recent decision not to defend federal drinking water standards in court is a major setback, and they will likely reverse our years of progress.

However, they are still moving forward with the Superfund designation, which is a huge step.

We are still fighting to protect our natural resources and our health. To learn more, visit our website www.fight4zero.org

Cancer prevention is a mission that unites us. We're dedicated to eliminating cancer by protecting our food, air, and water, and it's an honor to work alongside communities in Ohio and beyond. This year, we're celebrating the resilience of military veterans, firefighters, and children who have overcome toxic exposures. Help us continue this vital work. Natural foam or foam potentially exacerbated by pollution?

⚫️ Most sea foam is a natural phenomenon. It's formed when the ocean's waves agitate seawater that contains high concentrations of dissolved organic matter.

⚫️ The same physical process that creates natural foam can be amplified by human-made pollutants. Things like detergents, pesticides, oil and grease from stormwater runoff, and even certain industrial waste can act as surfactants, increasing the amount of foam.

⚠️While most sea foam is harmless, it's always best to be cautious, as some foam, particularly if it's discolored or smells bad, can contain concentrated toxins.

Our team brings passion and drive to take on environmental health challenges facing Florida. We are fighting for zero pollution through education, support, advocacy, action, and teamwork.
