Some of the most important conversations in epilepsy care are also the hardest ones to have.

But discussing seizure safety, SUDEP, and other serious risks with a healthcare provider can help individuals and families be more informed, prepared, and supported.

You deserve conversations that are honest, compassionate, and collaborative. The S.T.E.P.S. discussion guide is designed to help make those conversations easier to start.

🌱💜 Our Coordinator, Kim, has been out and about in the community this week!

Kim’s first event was Rock Island Library's Summer Reading Program launch, "Plant a Seed," in partnership with the QC Botanical Center, where families enjoyed learning, growing, and exploring new opportunities.

Kim also participated in the Health Fair at the Farmers Market, connecting with community members, sharing information about epilepsy, and raising awareness about the services and support offered through the Epilepsy Advocacy Network.

We love being part of events that bring our community together and look forward to many more opportunities to educate, advocate, and connect! 💜

💜 This is such a big win for Illinois families! Thank you to The Danny Did Foundation for all of your amazing work to make it happen. Read more about how this will be rolled out ➡️https://www.dannydid.org/wp-content/uploads/Device-Bill-Press-Release.pdf

Big news for Illinois families living with epilepsy! 🎉

After years of advocacy, collaboration, and persistence, groundbreaking legislation has passed the Illinois General Assembly and now awaits the Governor's signature! Once signed into law, it will expand access to FDA-cleared seizure detection devices through both Illinois Medicaid and private insurance coverage.

This is a major step forward in helping more people access technology that can improve safety, independence, and quality of life. We're incredibly grateful to the advocacy partners, families, clinicians, and community members who helped make this possible. In addition, we celebrate the chief sponsors of this legislation: State Senator Julie Morrisoni and State Representative Bob Morgan, for their tireless efforts.

This expanded device access helps to close a critical gap in epilepsy care—and we are excited for the impact this will have for thousands of Illinois residents in the years ahead. 💙💜
