MEET THE ALUMNI!

• LEISHA (CAMPBELL) CUMMINS

The Class of 1996 star was a standout on the soccer field & volleyball court. She was an all-league soccer goalie that led the Lady Bucs to multiple Section 3 final appearances. She was named The Palladium-Times female Athlete of the Year in 1996.

Leisha was an even bigger force on the volleyball court. She led the league in kills & blocks both her junior and senior seasons. Leisha also helped the University of New Hampshire make their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division 1 volleyball tournament.

• JASON MANTARO

The 1988 graduate was the captain & MVP of the Varsity Hockey team. He was first team all-league and received all-state recognition. Jason played three years in the Empire State games and is still among the top five scorers in program history.

On the lacrosse field, he led the team in scoring twice and received all-league recognition. An incredible student/athlete, Jason attended the Air Force Academy. He scored over 100 points in four years on the hockey, was the captain his senior year, and spent his career as an officer in the Air Force.

• ABIGAIL HURLEY-MARTIN

The 2007 alum competed in the state championship for swimming and was a strong middle hitter and blocker on the volleyball team. But, softball is where she made her mark. Abby is best remembered for being one of the most dominating pitchers in Section 3.

She earned all-league and Pitcher of the Year honors. When she graduated, Abby held the Oswego record for strikeouts. After spending time at Monmouth, she transferred to Cortland and participated in the D3 College World Series. She's coached at Oswego State, Trinity (TX) University, and the University of Rochester.

• MELISA VERDOLIVA

The 1995 graduate was named team MVP in both soccer and softball. In soccer, she earned all-league honors three times and helped the Lady Bucs advance to their Section 3 Championship game.

On the softball diamond, Missy was an amazing shortstop that led Oswego to three straight Section 3 Championships. She made all-league twice, was captain senior year, and was runner-up in the Player of the Year voting. She went on to star for Oswego State, coaches the girls modified soccer team, and is on the OYSA board.

Congratulations to all 4 Oswego Hall of Fame athletes.

The Oswego Varsity Baseball team won the SCAC Empire Divisional title last night with a thrilling 13-12 come-from-behind victory over Jamesville-Dewitt at Fort Ontario Field.

The winner-take-all finale raised the Bucs league record to 9-3. The loss dropped the Red Rams to 8-4 and into a second place tie with East Syracuse-Minoa. Oswego now awaits the Section 3 seeding meeting Sunday morning to see the playoff bracket.

The 12-12 tie game from April 14th was resumed last night in the top of the 8th inning. The Bucs had led by 5 runs in the top of the 3rd inning, but trailed by 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th.

Oswego tied the game in the bottom of the 7th when junior Conner Kelly scored on a sacrifice fly to left by junior Michael Kenyon.

The resumed game began in the top of the 8th with Mario Garabito replacing junior August Babcock on the mind. The senior hurler retired J-D in order with a line out, strikeout, and pop out.

The Bucs began the bottom of the 8th with a pair of groundouts. The winning rally started when junior Eddie Kuzawski singled to left and stole second base.

With the winning run in scoring position, senior Mike Conzone delivered a line drive to left field on a 3-1 pitch that plated Kuzawski. The victory sent the Bucs into a frenzy as they seek their first Section 3 title since 1979.
