Penny would not have survived without your support...

Walk for the Animals is now only 8 days away!

We rely heavily on the Walk to raise money for our animal medical fund, to provide veterinary care, surgeries and treatments.

This fund ensures we can be there for animals like Penny.

Penny and her husbun Parker were surrendered to OAHS when their guardian had to move and could not take them along. As a 7-year-old Holland Lop, Penny was a senior bun and had several medical concerns.

Our medical staff noticed that Penny was very underweight, had hair loss in several spots, severe muscle wasting, narrowed ear canals with excessive wax, and a low overall body condition. She also was walking as if she was in pain.

After running bloodwork and doing x-rays, our medical staff determined that she had anemia, a splayed leg, luxating patellas and lumbar stenosis.

We also partnered with the rabbit veterinary specialists at Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care for a consultation.

Together, the medical teams identified the best long-term pain medications for her, ear drops, and a supplement for muscle support.

This precious senior pair were then adopted, and are happily spending their golden years together.

Help us continue to help pets like Penny by coming out to enjoy the event on Sept.12! You can also donate here: oahs.org/walk-for-the-animals-2026

Meet Kylo, an adorable little guy who has a whole lot of love to give 💙

Once he feels comfortable with you, Kylo is incredibly sweet and affectionate. He’ll happily curl up in your lap and soak up the attention from his favorite person.

• Sweet and affectionate
• Loves relaxing in your lap
• Super smart boy - does puzzles!
• Takes medication for anxiety and stress
• Best as the only pet
• Needs a no-fish diet
• Will do best with an experienced cat guardian
• 5 years old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped & negative for FIV and feline leukemia

Shelter life can be overwhelming for Kylo, and he can become overstimulated when he’s stressed. He’s currently on medication to help with his anxiety and stress, and he’s looking for an experienced adopter who will give him the time, understanding, and calm environment he needs to thrive.

Could you be the calm, patient person who gives Kylo the chance to feel safe and loved?

Sometimes the cats who need a little extra understanding have the biggest hearts to give. Meet this handsome boy at our shelter during our public visiting hours, Tues-Fri 1-6pm or Sat 11am-3pm (no appointment needed) or contact our cat team at [email protected] or 920-424-2128 ext.106 for more info!

Blythe & Bartholomew are still waiting for someone to chooose them 💗

This sweet pair have been through a lot together and are now hoping to find a quiet, loving home where they can finally feel safe.

They have really blossomed since being at the shelter, now that they are safe, loved and cared for.

• Love human attention and being gently petted
• They LOVE to give kisses – so many kisses
• Playful and silly
• Are both so super soft and adorable
• Bonded pair who need to stay together – they love each other
• We believe Bartholomew has mild Cerebella Hypoplasia (wobbly syndrome) - this does not affect his health or lifespan
• 2 years old, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and negative for FIV and feline leukemia

Both of these little sweethearts can become overstimulated at times, and we wonder if they simply didn’t have enough socialization, play, and positive interaction in their lives.

With a calm environment, patience, and someone who understands kitty body language, they will be wonderful little companions.

Could you give these two the peaceful home they need to finally relax, feel secure, and discover the joys of being loved?

Meet these adorable sweethearts at our shelter during our public visiting hours, Tues-Fri 1-6pm or Sat 11am-3pm (no appointment needed) or contact our cat team at [email protected] or 920-424-2128 ext.106 for more info!

It’s and seriously... how has this adorable girl been waiting so long?! 💔

Frannie is the whole package—a perfectly pint-sized bundle of love, cuddles, and endless fun!

Check out how much fun she had recently with her foster Mom at a local Sniffspot!

• LAP DOG who loves to snuggle
• Compact cutie – only 43 lbs!
• Active, playful, and always ready for adventure
• Would be AMAZING at agility or scent work
• Enjoys dog friends for supervised playdates, but would prefer to be your one-and-only • No cats, please... they're just too tempting to chase!
• Best with teens and older because of her enthusiastic greetings and playful personality •2 years old, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped

Beneath all her goofy energy is an incredibly sweet, snuggly girl who just wants someone she can trust. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, so she'd love a quieter home with a patient, confident person who will let her blossom at her own pace. Once you're in her circle, you'll have a loyal best friend for life.

Frannie is ready to be your new adventure buddy, couch cuddler, and forever best friend!

Please share to help this amazing girl finally find the happily-ever-after she's been dreaming of!

WE’RE HIRING! Help us keep tails wagging and our shelter sparkling!

Behind every happy adoption is a shelter that is safe, clean, comfortable and running like a well-oiled machine—and we’re looking for two awesome people to help make that happen!

FACILITIES MANAGER — PART-TIME

We need a Facilities Manager to help care for our shelter facility and grounds. This role includes routine maintenance and repairs, coordinating outside vendors, overseeing our cleaning team and work release program, and helping keep the shelter safe, secure and functional for animals, staff, volunteers and visitors.

Basically… you’ll be one of the behind-the-scenes heroes keeping OAHS in tip-top shape!

FACILITY CLEANER — PART-TIME MORNINGS

Our Facility Cleaner helps provide a clean, healthy and humane environment for the animals in our care and keeps the shelter looking clean and welcoming for staff, volunteers and visitors.
It’s not always glamorous—but clean kennels, fresh floors and sparkling spaces make a huge difference for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

If you’re dependable, hardworking and want your work to make a difference in the lives of animals (and the people who love them), we’d love to meet you!

Rainbow is a very special girl who has learned that the world can be scary—but she’s also starting to discover that people can be kind, gentle, and safe.

This sweet girl was abandoned in an apartment and left there for some time. We can only imagine how frightening and confusing that experience must have been.

When Rainbow arrived at the shelter, she had every reason to be afraid.

But slowly… she is showing us her heart. 🥹

Rainbow loves a lap. In fact, if two people are sitting with her, she may happily make the rounds from lap to lap, soaking up every bit of affection she can get. She’ll nudge against you, crawl into your lap, and ask for attention in the sweetest way.

The challenge is that Rainbow can become overstimulated by all that love. She’s sensitive, and she needs an experienced cat owner who will give her a quiet, predictable environment where she can decompress and continue learning what it means to feel safe.

• Professional lap thief 😻
• Adores attention; has so much love to share
• Bonds closely to people
• Silly and playful
• Sensitive and can become overstimulated
• Best in a quiet, experienced home
• Would prefer to be your one and only kitty
• 4 years old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped & negative for FIV & feline leukemia

Rainbow has already survived being abandoned. Now she deserves to know what it feels like to be chosen, cherished, and home.

Meet this special little girl at our shelter during our public visiting hours, Tues-Fri 1-6pm or Sat 11am-3pm (no appointment needed) or contact our cat team at [email protected] or 920-424-2128 ext.106 for more info!

Spooky just wants to love you… and be loved 💙

Behind those worried eyes is a gentle little boy who is trying so hard to understand why his world has suddenly changed.

Spooky was surrendered to the shelter, and honestly, he’s finding it all a little overwhelming. The noise, the unfamiliar surroundings, the constant activity—it’s just a lot for this sweet boy.

But every day, Spooky is showing us a little more of his heart. He’s beginning to show how loving he really is, leaning in for pets and snuggles, and we know that with patience, kindness, and a quiet place to call home, he will blossom.

• Gentle and loving sweetheart
• Loves being petted and will lean in and roll around for more attention
• BIG handsome soft squishmallow
• Has lived with other cats
• On a prescription diet for his urinary health
• 3 years old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, & negative for FIV and feline leukemia

Spooky isn’t asking for much. He just wants someone who will give him the time he needs… someone who will reassure him that he is safe… someone who will love him until he learns to trust that he is home.

Meet this adorable sweetheart at our shelter during our public visiting hours, Tues-Fri 1-6pm or Sat 11am-3pm (no appointment needed) or contact our cat team at [email protected] or 920-424-2128 ext.106 for more info!
