Immigrants contribute to our community. We need each other (for much more than Taco Tuesdays). In Ohio, our immigrant neighbors are workers, business owners, taxpayers, caregivers, drivers, builders, and families helping our communities thrive.
In 2023, 6.1% of Ohio’s labor force was foreign-born. Immigrants in Ohio hold $2.6B in spending power, and undocumented immigrants alone paid $739M in taxes in 2022. They are also building businesses and strengthening our future: 8.2% of Ohio immigrants are entrepreneurs, and immigrants contribute $2.7B to Social Security while receiving $0 in Social Security benefits.
These numbers tell a simple truth: immigrants are not a burden. They are part of the strength, stability, and everyday life of places in Wayne County and communities across Ohio.
Open Arms exists to welcome, accompany, and partner with Latino immigrants as they build safe and sustainable lives.
