Don Raul Tadeo, who established Open Arms Hispanic Ministries, has passed into the presence of the Lord.

The legacy he leaves behind is far greater than he could have ever imagined.

His vision, faith, and love for our community continue to live on through the ministry and the many lives he touched.

We join his family in their grief and prayers, especially his children, Ken Tadeo and Janeth Tadeo, and his wife, Doña Ana. May the Lord surround them with His peace, comfort, and strength during this difficult time.

Most of us open the mailbox without giving it a second thought.

But imagine if every envelope arrived in a language you didn't understand: A note from your child's school. A medical bill. A job application. A letter from the court.

You know it's important. You just don't know what it says. That's a reality many Hispanic families face.

Sometimes the first step toward hope isn't a grand gesture. It's sitting down with someone and saying, "Let's read it together."

When people ask how they can help new immigrant families, they usually think of food, clothing, or household items.Those gifts matter, and we're grateful for them.

But they're not what people ask us for first.

They ask, "Can someone help me understand this paperwork?" "Can someone take me to my appointment?" "Can someone explain what my child's school is asking?" "Do you know anyone who's hiring?"

At the heart of those questions is something simple: people want the chance to build a life. Sometimes the greatest gift isn't something you can put in a box. It's someone willing to walk beside you.

People often assume the biggest challenge is language.

Sometimes it is. But we've learned the hardest translation happens long before words are spoken. It's helping someone believe they're safe. Helping a parent believe their child will be okay. Helping a family believe they belong.

Every tutoring session, every ride, every conversation... is really about turning fear into hope. That's the language we want our community to speak.

Every summer, families face the same question: "Who's going to be with my kids while I'm at work?" And for some immigrant families, paying for childcare isn't an option.

The U.S. Supreme Court recently allowed the federal government to turn away many asylum seekers at the border before they can apply for asylum.

For most of us, that's another news story. For many families, it's another layer of uncertainty.

No matter what changes in immigration policy, one thing hasn't changed: people in our community still need someone to help them navigate doctor's appointments, schools, jobs, legal paperwork, and daily life.
